Do we have a number of new units already to be unveiled then? Or are we actively seeking tenants? It’s really frustrating how long it tabes fir anything to be announced, I do want this to be a success but just have s feeling that covid really hurt the project

A number of units are fitting out. 7 others are under offer. Once they complete its 90% let. You’ll struggle to find many shopping centres at 100% at the minute. All the bar/restaurant units are either under offer or already confirmed.

    Cheers

    The leasing plan is here:
    https://theglassworksbarnsley.com/leasing/

The only units under offer that could be retail are SU1 (next door to Coffee Boy) and SU20. I wouldn’t be surprised if SU20 wasn’t retail though.

The remaining units under offer are all leisure. Out of those, L2 is Boom Battle Bar, and I hear R7 is a national pub chain.

Salt Rock has now changed to ‘The Salt House’ and the other is Black & White - they were meant to open before Christmas but it now looks like late Spring for those. The Salt House will probably open first.

The contract with Queensberry expired in December so little activity has progressed in attracting additional tenants. The council have just renewed until June and are spending a bit of money on the empty units to try and get them occupied.

What’s happening with the 2 bars that were due to open before Christmas Salt Rock and Black & White I think they were ?
I assumed that it was materials shortage but there are no signs of activity

    Cheers for that

looking at that leasing plan there is quite a lot of units actually ‘taken’ then which is a good thing, although not a great deal of retail there still some interesting ventures no more so than boom battle bar although the unit you’ve stayed looks tiny for what it’s own website shows it offers. Still it looks very promising

The entrance to boom bar would be downstairs and a very small area because it's just a staircase, the actual unit is upstairs and takes up a large area. Ive very poorly drawn a red border around the actual unit.

Now that makes much more sense think somewhere like that will be a hit with they younger generation and the college lot may even sway more people to stay in town instead of venturing to the bigger cities which is obviously the main aim

NHS is all of SU15 and the 2nd floors of SU14 and SU19.

Friday’s is R5 - pretty much where The Groggers Rest was.

I wonder with the collapse of the Alhambra centre the council or other entities are looking at it with a potential of incorporating it into the glassworks
