I’ve found 5 of those throw away cameras, and think they must be at least 10 years old. I’m sure there will be some great old photos on them and would like to have them developed. Wondering if the quality of the prints would be severely affected and/or the possibility of having them digitally stored. I know there ‘s Max Spielmans in Tarn who would probably charge a fortune for the prints. Anyone any ideas of who else does these either digitally or prints. TIA
I think the quality can diminish. I took a load of Railway and Horse Racing pictures in about 2001 then had the film developed years later in about 2015 and all the photos were grainy. My Dad told me it might be to do with light. I'm not an expert.
Bear in mind that the quality of the photos from these cameras was poor in comparison to the quality cameras of the time let alone with the standard of digital cameras today. Much will depend upon where you found them. If it was somewhere free of light and damp then it might be worth getting one processed. I’m not sure where the best place would be. There may well be an enthusiast on the bbs willing to give it a go.
There’s usually some impact on image quality when developing old film but it’ll largely depend on how they’ve been stored. You sometimes get a bit of a colour cast on them, so they might be a bit green or a bit magenta, or they could be totally knackered because light’s leaked into the camera and exposed all the film. And you won’t know until you have them developed. Might be worth doing one film and seeing what they come out like. This place is worth a look: https://www.peak-imaging.com/category/44-35mm-film-processing. It’s in Shef but they have a by post option. I had my first proper full time job there printing digital photos after I’d finished uni. It was when digital cameras were starting to be more widely available but home printers hadn’t quite reached a decent standard so you wouldn’t believe the amount homemade ‘romance’ content we used to get sent to print. And some of it was just mixed in with normal stuff - i’d get a CD with pics of some kids playing in the park, some nice photos of the countryside, a few of a 60 year old with her baps out, some more countryside photos. It was properly funny. Realise I’ve taken this thread a bit off topic…
Thanks for the reply, I can vouch for the content of these cameras being ‘clean’ ‘Homemade Romance’ Love it,whatever that is
