I heard so much about this - but never been brave enough to watch (though it was shown in schools in the 1980s).

I watched it then in the 80s was not unrealistic.
    Frightening times.

Are you suggesting you’d rather be at ground zero?

Living next door to RAF Waddington (relatively speaking) we don’t have a choice, would be over for us in a flash

Well at least a nuclear winter will counteract climate change.
Honestly though I worry Putin would rather destroy the world than lose.

I think that's only the first hour. There's a good chunk missing.

Bought it on DVD a few weeks ago and finally got round to watching it tonight. I remember the stir it caused when originally broadcast, but wasn't allowed to watch it at the time.

Still has an impact watching it for the first time nowadays. It looks very dated in places but the documentary style is still very hard hitting, particularly the way the typed text screens update the narrative.

Watched a couple of the extras on the disc too. One of them has a producer describing the problems on location on an estate due for demolition near Hillsborough, as the locals kept looting the bits of the set they were building on it.

Made to watch it in school in the 1980s. **** myself then, still leaves me cold now. Very disturbing for a young impressionable mind.

Did the trick though, joined CND!!
