They sound like reasonable points to me. Id agree its got the potential to last a long time. Not an expert in military strategy, but you don't have to be a weatherman to know its raining :)

Your approach lead to Hitler's appeasement & then WW2.

I don't agree with sabre rattling, but Ukraine are truly fighting a battle for democratic freedom. We need to support them with weapons, aid, sanctions & that means repatriating all Russians with any links to Putin & seizure of their assets. We also need to help the poor people fleeing & the half arsed approach of Liz Truss is utter ****. The Tory Party have taken so much money from the Russians it's unbelievable. Rees Mogg has pocketed nearly half a billion over the years.

Is there any truth in something I read recently (in response to a question I asked of why does Putin/Russia not join NATO ...better to be in the club than outside) in that a few years ago he wanted to join but, on being told he would have to join the queue, decided Russia was "far to big and important to have to be behind countries that don't matter" . ( I paraphrase and simplify his alleged response which comes across as a flounce. Obviously there is much more to it than that, but if he did apply and was not rejected out of hand it makes your '80% Fault of NATO' a bit suspect.

Thank you Mr PinballWizzard. My post was done in haste and that was wrong. Your post deserves a better a reply. That needs some thought so I will do that tomorrow.

No truth. NATO is there to oppose Russia, China & North Korea these days & maybe Iran / Syria, etc to some extent. My dim view of America makes me not an enthusiast about NATO, but seeing as we've paid our subs all these years we may as well stay part of the club now I guess.

Any excuse to share this again.

It is a bit cheesy & dated. Reminds me of 70's Saturday morning TV aimed at kids. I like the little keyboard riff. The actual message pretty much does sum up what is going on in Ukraine.

The Hitler/Munich comparison is a bad one and deeply flawed.

Liz Truss is out of her depth, I agree. And I agree with everything you've said about the Tory party.

Anyway, I've said my bit. Have a good week all.

That's not a particularly easy question to answer, bearing in mind that most people will be of mixed heritage, just as in Russia. Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Polish, Jewish, Tatar-Mongol etc.

    From the BBC:

"The Ukrainian army is no longer functioning in military formations, but now in fairly fixed defending positions and becoming more and more part of the territorial defence and volunteer force that it is operating alongside," he says.

40 mile Russian convoy heading for Kyiv.

NATO has always had a border with Russia - in the formerly Russian controlled/owned Aleutian islands/Northern Pacific - Russia even sold Alaska to the USA. It might be thousands of square miles of nothing, but it is a border nonetheless.

I don’t know but there’s an advert on TV for a travel program where the presenter is in Alaska and says just over there , he points over a short stretch of water , is Russia .
