Out of the usual games that us Brits play what do you think is the hardest to master? Golf? Cricket? Football? Tennis? Snooker? Darts? Athletics? Road Cycle/Mountain Biking? Horse Riding/Show Jumping/Racing?
Horse riding is probably the only one where you’d struggle to just rock up and have a go with no prior experience.
Had a go at all those with the exception of Racing a horse on a track - though have done it unofficially across a field - not always intentionally Have done show Jumping and cross country though and they take quite a while to get to a level where you are clearing smallish jumps safely Depends what you mean by master but Id say the Horse ones - Golf is probably next but a lot depends on how talented you are of course
An interesting question --- Can you train/work hard at a certain sport and become successful or is a natural talent a prerequisite to success?
The old saying is 10,000 hours of something makes you a master of it. To be honest, I'm not convinced. I think you need some natural talent to excel, as well as high levels of confidence and drive.
Peter Ebdon achieved this in Snooker. He just wanted to play. He mastered boring every f cuker to death and winning by submission.
Fckin snooker! Frustrating doesn't begin to describe it: like having a lifetime season ticket for Oakwell.
