Your assumption that Ukraine acted In good faith to ban only fifth columnists is wrong. As I already stated above one of the banned parties had condemned the invasion and voted in favour of its members joining the national defence units.

I'm not going to argue with you. Check back on my posting history about the US etc.

    Forget everyone's history.

    Forget it.

Is the fact that Russia is pummelling this defenceless country to the ground wrong?

It would be nice to forget history and start once again from the beginning.

But that's too much to ask.

I would challenge anyone to justify Putin's invasion of Ukraine as necessary.

But it arises from someone's perception of history. And telling it to be forgotten is to bark at the moon.

I guess we simply need to disagree regarding this. The bottom line is that thousands of people are losing their lives while millions are losing everything but. You and I arguing from the comfort of our living rooms is simply absurd when you consider the context.

    I disagree.

It's quite a simple concept to grasp.

    It's either wrong or right.

Im only asking a yes or no. It needn't need a politician answer that ultimately ignores the question or one that rambles on for pages and pages.

Things are never so easy though. Ideally they ought to be.

If you were asked - is it wrong to kill your neighbour? - then the obvious answer is yes.

But if you neighbour had just killed your wife and kids, then your answer might be different.

You can't just ignore the history.

Well I would have been happy for that scenario since I divorced her. Not the kids obviously.

But hypothetically in answer to your question. No it would be wrong. As 2 wrongs don't make a right. My neighbour could have done that to her and my kids. It would still be wrong for me to do the same.

Irrespective of the narrative of an eye for an eye etc

There was no need for any action in the first place

Daft question, of course it’s wrong, doesn’t mean there’s not an uncomfortable context behind it all though and that we should just remove our critical thought processes or ability to question “our” sides responses or forget the historical background.

Your submission is to ignore history though.

To treat things as though nothing has happened before.

Each week we forget all that has gone before us.

Boris starts with a clean slate on Monday

‘I divorced her’ tends to suggest that history still hangs with you though

Some things we all learn from

    That’s history for you

That is all I wanted to hear.

So it's wrong. How does the world respond to help stop it being wrong. That's what needs dealing with right now. A solution is miles off. I get it.

Historical context can be dealt with after when dealing with a long term solution.

But Russia still bombing the crap out of the place isn't helping, it's that that needs to stop

No, my submission is to stop what is wrong now. Deal with the immediate wrongs. And a solution can be dealt with after. For example, seen as you think I've still got history with the ex wife.... This is how it went..

History with her has no context. I responded to events at the time by showing her where the door was, making it clear she wasn't welcome to re-enter the family home.

I stopped that event going on at the same time while she was under my roof. So what she continued outside of that. But over my dead body was she being under my roof at the same time.

The after effects was that, once I dealt with the situation at hand, I then went through the proper means of getting her out of my life.

I didn't respond by doing what I could have, I did what was right for me and my lads.

Which is why they live with me. I now own everything. Legally she got what she deserved. Her clothes.

wtf are you on? They are at war, not of their making and under daily bombardment from an enemy with no qualms who they target, man , woman or child, did they ought to ask the Russians to hold off a bit while they have a debate !

I was stood behind three Ukrainian refugees in the bank in Tralee yesterday. A mother and two kids. They'd fled the full width of Europe. I doubt they felt no other country on the planet had the moral high ground to help them. I'd imagine they'd much rather have been still at home instead of having it shelled to pieces.
Thankfully the vast majority of the rest of the world agree and are trying to stop needless slaughter.
Those lacking the moral high ground, who will be left with blood on their conscience, will be those who did nothing.
There's not a single country on the planet that hasn't got skeletons in its closet. We should never lose sight of that. We should use the memory as a driver to make us do better.
There's no conceivable way we should use it as an excuse to do nothing. If we do that then where the f**k is the world going to end up?
