Stockport County do it but its done by a volunteer charity, not the club itself.

999 Brian O'Callaghan. Appropriate as it was an emergency every time he got the ball.

No 102 'Toddles Woolhouse'. Hapless aristocrat and constant companion of Boodles McWhorter and Alvin Trousers.

No. 178 'General Stevenson.' Gave orders to pause the offensive at Spion Kop so that he could take part in a dour 1-0 victory over Hartlepools.

Gave rise to the expression 'Midfield General'

The pdf at the bottom of the alumni page, wouldn't it be better in landscape, or excel format? So all the player info is together.

This whole project is absolutely brilliant, well done to everyone to all involved.

No 172 Harry 'Tip' Bennett. Disputed as to whether his nickname came from his love of horse racing or his bellend getting blown off at the Somme.

Cultured left footed Spanish midfielder. We got him the year after we'd been relegated from the Premier League I think. a free transfer or loan. I think he only played a handful of times and he was at the back end of his career. I remember thinking he was quite a catch when we signed him, I'd had him at Atletico Madrid on Championship Manager. He wasn't as good as Jovo.

Not something I've focused on since we inducted Eric Winstanley, Ernie Hine and George Utley, 10 months ago. I'd imagine on the 135th anniversary in September we might look to do something. But that's six months away, so in what format I couldn't say at this stage.

Purely focused - right now anyway - on next weekend and over a dozen former players attending Oakwell.

It shouldn't be in that format, so along with any spelling mistakes etc, I'll try and fix that when I get the opportunity.

I wouldn't say picking spots. A light hearted **** take more like. I appreciate the effort something like this takes. I remember when Dave Copping had his section in the programme.

I like it! Especially the bit where each player will have their number on their shirt going forwards. It's like the county and international "cap" system they use in cricket.

One thing I'd have changed was have some criteria for a player to be named as an alumni, again similar to the way cricket does it. Maybe they need to play x amont of games for the club before they are named as one? It would really make it something to be proud of, rather than being on the list with the likes of Deon Burton and Marceo Rigters who simply didn't want to be here(although, I suppose getting that sort of data for the very early players would be nigh on impossible).

    I like it.
676 is as far back as I go. I'd hazard a guess that quite a few of us will have him as their earliest name.

    Barry Murphy, obviously. :)

When it says each number on the shirt.....

Are we talking a small number above/below the players name, or on the front near the badge etc?

Or we completely doing away with squad numbers and having a massive 1467 across the back :)
