The first name I looked for wasn't listed as he never made it onto the field despite being named as a sub on several occasions. Bloody typical! Great initiative, obviously inspired by the England cricket team, which gives everyone their unique place in the club's history. Well done to Dave Wood, who did the bulk of the legwork on this.
Yes but chronologically in the order that they represented us. Not just arbitrary numbers. It ticks my geek box and I like it.
Yeah... i'm not really bothered about that aspect. Appearances, goals, I'm all for that. And I'm moderately curious what the most common first name is out of those nearly 1,400!
I haven't thoroughly checked it, but I'd say George and Jack were most common. It's great to have it set up, a good base or foundation to build upon. As someone has recently posted further up, the biggest credit goes to Dave Wood, who is not only a decent fella, he's very good at this stuff. Without his input, both the Alumni and HOF would never have got off the ground. He's one of our guests of honour next weekend too, as is Shaun Dooley, who narrated on the videos we released.
Been working on another quiz, Barnsley players to have played for us in the last 30 years... this will certainly help! Great job everyone involved.
For those wanting a bit more info on players, don't forget about the excellent book, Who's Who of Barnsley FC, co Written By Grenville Firth and David Wood. Its not up to date (unless there has been a recent reprint) but will bring you into the early 2010's incl mangers with their stats etc. The Who's Who of Barnsley FC: Amazon.co.uk: Grenville Firth, David Wood: 9781859838426: Books
1330-1337 four of them called Jordan. Can't say I remember much about Helliwell or Smith if I'm honest.
