Due to fly out of Manchester in about 10 days..hearing its chaos at security checks and taking 2 hours to get thru with the queue stretching to the car park..just wondered if anyone has been through lately and is it as bad as am hearing...cheers
We went through in October and it was ***** mate, took two hours and it was absolute carnage - but to be fair it was the Saturday at the start of October half term. Went again a few days before Christmas and it was alright - bag drop, rona certificate checks and security all done inside 20 minutes. So pot luck I guess...
yep, went through 2 weeks last Sunday, took over 2 hours and this was at 3am, we had booked the exec lounge and got about 10 minuites in it......complaint on it's way
Were there in January, checking in was chaos, with staff going down queues looking for people on some flights that were at risk of delay. We got fast Lane through security as part of our hotel / parking deal. But still ended up grabbing a sarnie at Costa and running to the gate. And we’re never the type of people who arrive late at airports.
Used it last Saturday, took us best part of 3hrs from parking up to getting through security, shocking pal.
Used it last Sunday, and did an all-nighter. I joined the queue about 0315 (queues already massive), but no longer than pre-covid. What I don't understand is why all the security terminals weren't open (As Terminal 3 was closed surely they had staff to cover). Anyway, I hate Manc airport, give me Donny any day.
Wouldn't use Manchester again. Last flew from there in 2013. Absolute chaos. East Midlands is straight down the M1 and park within walking distance of the terminal.
My mate flew to Tenerife this morning. 9am flight so a very early am check in. Even with his lad in a wheelchair and going through the fast lane it took an hour. Sounds like total chaos. We flew out and back to Colombia via variously Dublin, Paris, Panama, Pereira and Bogota and had no more than 15 to 20 mins in security at any of them. Sounds like Manchester is a hell hole.
In the last 5 years or so the only flights we’ve had not from Donny were Man to Jamaica, man to Mexico (can do that from Donny again now). Other than that, we’ve done several Greek islands, Spain and Cyprus from Donny. And later this year we’re doing a Med cruise and Tenerife from Donny. also earlier we did Paris, Dublin and Amsterdam (sadly none of those still flying) but city breaks will return. It’s not just that it’s on the doorstep, it’s friendly and efficient, not too crowded, just a pleasant experience
Hmm flying out of Manc a week on Sunday, it’s 7:15 am flight but sounds like I need to invest in “fasttrack” just to get through in 2 hours!!! I would normally always flight from East Midlands but as we’re picking up a cruise I didn’t have a lot of choice with the time etc and had to go from there!
Last used Manchester in 2011 when we arrived back 12 hours delayed because of a fault with our aircraft and when we got back they made us wait 3 hours for our bags. A flight came in and within 20 minutes their bags started coming through on the carousel next to ours. There was nearly a riot. The airport had to send staff to talk to us all and their rationale for keeping us waiting while the on time flight got straight through was that we were already delayed and they weren't. Wouldn't go near the hideous hell hole now. Birmingham or East Midlands every time.
Lanzarote in Sept - only using MCR as we're staying over there the night before to see Dexys. Schools will have gone back so hopefully things will have eased off a bit.
I had decades of no foreign holidays whilst we brought up the kids, I'm not gonna feel guilty about wanting to see some of the world before I die
Tbf I feel the same. I'm not excessive in my consumption as a rule but I'm going to have my annual.visit to Europe.
Absolutely horrendous this morning, really thought we'd miss the flight! Two parties missed their flights, my tip keep asking and they'll whip you through if your plane is boarding, shy bairns get nowt! .
