What happened to Moneyball? Where is the spreadsheet? Where is the high press? Where is making it hard for teams to play against us? This season we set out to be the championship’s answer to Manchester City with nice football and look where that got us. We replaced one useless coach with another who took nine games to get a win. OK so nobody was queuing up to buy our players in the close season and they may be at the end of this one, but will that cover what we lose by going down?
Don’t think they have a plan anymore. Conway and Lee seem to have lost any interest that they may once have had. Our best hope is that the Crynes can find a backer and take back control
think it started to go wrong when they drafted in Karen from Facebook to fine tune Poya's knowledge on second half tactics and substitutions!
Appointment unknown foreign coach's from generally a much lower standard than what we paly at. Sign players of a similar mould. Hope we can sell either coach or players on at a profit if they show signs if potential. Repeat process. Invest nothing back into the infrastructure of the club. Thats the plan isn't it?
I remember Jed Wallace of Millwall being interviewed about us after we'd played them at Oakwell last season - think they, like us, were on a really good run at the time. He said he'd never played against a team who were so relentless in their desire to press and put pressure on the opposition both on and off the ball. Obviously this season we've gone for the opposite approach and decided to just potter about and sit back off the ball, as well as apparently sack off fitness training. Absolutely genius decision from those in charge.
Serious question ... is this a coach's decision to play like this or a senior management decision telling him to play like this as it's apparently the only way we will be able to sell players? Cos if it is the latter then it is working really well and our saleable players are going to be leaving in droves for top money. Play hoofball and WIN ... nobody leaves. Play crap and be relegated ... nobody leaves.
We are simply a buisness Nursery team that take the seeds and nurture them until they can be sold for a profit. It would not suit the owners for us to be a successful team, that would require an investment from them. Actual football doesn’t come into their plan! They know that our hearts are in B FC and our loyalty will bankroll them. They cannot lose, we are on a hiding to nothing.
I think it was always the plan. What they said and what they did are different things entirely. Spectemur Agendo
I think the plan has been seriously knocked off course by Brexit. It seems clear to me from Chien's comment about Nancy being their prime focus that our loss of freedom of movement within the EU has caused us to be sidelined from the rest of his little empire.
I hope the Cryne family regret not doing proper checks on these charlatans before letting them have 80%.
Barnsley second tier 22/24 AS Nancy second tier 20/20 KV Oostende top tier 14/18 FC Thun second tier 5/10 Esbjerg second tier 10/12 in relegation play offs FC Den Bosch second tier 13/20 The current owners hardly have a track record of global success. I do wonder how Conway’s capital raise for his Counter Press Spac is progressing? The fact that the spac has raised $87m suggests that investors believe in the prospects for more sports investment.
It would seem so schopp came from such a poor standard of league to one of the biggest in europe and then were they shocked he was out of his depth? Instead of appointing poya we should have gave it to a warnock type untill the end of season. Like already been said i just hope the crynes can find a investor and lee and conman sell up because next season in league one wont be like the last time we was there sauad much weaker and no money in the bank like last time.
I think it is self-evident that the recruitment of players from minor foreign leagues wasn't working anyway as an overall prospect. Even the couple of players that have brought value to the team, eg Freiser and Solbaur haven't translated into profit as sales. However, some have had a minor impact and not achieved much if any profit when sold on such as Cavare, Ritzmauer, Thiam, Shmidt etc. Plenty seem to have sunk without trace eg Radlinger, Knausmullner, Oulare etc It remains to be seen about Helik and Anderson who may yet be the exception to prove the rule. However, our only sizeable sale in recent years under our new owners was Pinnock signed in Britain. More profit seems to have been made on the two managers they haven't sacked. The economist in me always looks at the opportunity cost. Whilst we've been pratting about scouting park football in Austria, Peterboro signed Ivan Toney. While we were pratting about with Iseka and Oulare, Huddersfield signed 23 players (most freebies from lower leagues - including now welsh full international sorba thomas from boreham wood) only one of which was from an Eu country and they are third.
