Is it any surprise we are where we are?

Given the hindsight of having seen him play, it's one of the great mysteries of the season why Vita was left out of the side for so long after we'd gone to the effort to sign him right on the transfer deadline.

Arguably, he'd still be AWOL as far as first team action is concerned if it hadn't been for Poya being forced to use him against Barrow when we were struggling to put out a team.

He doesn’t. At all. Both have been hampered by having, bar probably Morris and Helik, an absolutely shocking team who should, on merit, be relegated. Last season was an absolute one off, and anyone who thinks different, in my opinion, is wrong.

Also, regardless of lack of personnel, Schopp didn’t have a ******* clue.

After the inevitable fire sale in the summer to cover losses any trust or patience the fans had with the board and head coach will have gone. I don't think the bounce back we had under Daniel Stendel will happen again. I hope this board will leave and new owners who have the interests of Barnsley FC and integrity not to treat the fans as not having the intelligence to know what is really going on at Oakwell. (West Stand debacle for instance). Immediate future not looking rosey at it stands.

For me, this season has been such a disaster, that next season isn’t close to being about promotion. It’s about consolidating in league 1 while doing a complete reset. So the fire sale will have to happen, and then we have to see how we can build a team around players coming through the academy, and some of the other younger players that stay. That would likely mean getting some loans in to play with the likes of Moon, Kitching, ackroyd, marsh etc…

Conway took on the ceo role and set the club back years. Just as the club was recovering from his previous disastrous stint in the role.

    Walton.

    Williams, Moon, Kitching, ?

    ? Wolfe, Benson, ?

    Atchison, Cole.

Assuming Collins, Brittain, Helik, Anderson, Styles, Palmer, Hondermarck, Woodrow, Morris all leave or sold. Then there's Adeboyejo, Halme, Thomas, Miller, Schmidt and Kane that will likely be gone too.

Iseka will no doubt have a relegation clause in his contract.

We aren't going to have much of a squad next season.

I guess one positive is our discipline. In the Huddersfield Examiner today it mentions Huddersfield, us and Millwall are the only three Championship sides not to have a red card this season. For all the moaning towards refs we see on here, we always finish with eleven men.

    Neither does poya!
Same mistake one after another ! last season was merited due to having a cracking man manager of a coach, a very fit and eager team, great back room staff and the way we played!
They wanted to change style of our play to help players worth but hired two coaches who couldn’t do it.
schopp had less resources than poya

I agree. There's loads of lads out of contract or with a year remaining in the clubs favour that just won't be retained. Then there's the obvious one's that will be sold on the cheap to make up some of the £6 million deficit from relegation.

Add Charlie Winfield for LB, did very well out on loan apparently, until he got injured.
Not sure Wolfe will be here as he's out of contract and could well get better offers.
Sounds like Kane could be back though, Oxford fans are suddenly not rating him as their promotion bid falters again.
I think Thomas still has a year left too, as does Schmidt. Both will probably get loaned out again.

Probably need around 10 new signings/loans, with little or no money available.
Big challenge ahead for somebody (hopefully not Poya).

If Cole is still here next year somebody wants sacking.
Id keep Williams, who I like a lot, and obviously Matty Wolfe who as been outstanding. The rest get rid !

Cole has 2 more years on his contract. So you either find someone who wants to sign him and are likely willing to at least match, if not improve on our wages, or you pay him off. I'm not sure either are especially likely at this stage.
