No sure as a club we could put a religation clause to new signings contact. As a club we are 9/10 for religation ever champ season. So why would a new player sign for us when a pay cut would be almost a guarantee... I'll bet they'll not be many if any.. maybe the odd duffer we wouldn't want anyway.
The players we have signed, or the majority of them would've taken a pay increase to move away from whatever academy, or lower league / European league club they came from. That's why they would've signed. Or, in the case of someone like Morris, we offered them first team football. I suspect a fair few will have clauses that drop the salary, but also insert a reduced release fee clause as well. So they will have an easier escape if anybody wants to offer them Champ wages.
It's a interesting thread, this one. We are becoming a bit like Everton and Watford, with a inflated squad but most of whom are not good enough or no longer fit the system (whatever that is these days,it used to be the German press). We need to decide what system we are gping to play in League 1,how many players we need, then get a coach in to help with recruitment. Obviously this is common sense, having read Paul Conway's interview in The Athletic, I fear for the future of the club. His arrogance and hubris in describing what a club should be and recruitment, was not based on reality. You have seen his impact on the playing side of things and the result is relegation. Another summer like last year and the club will soon be in Administration and relegated.
We may end up with Leya Iseka and Aitchinson with Marsh as backup, which may not be a bad thing. Unproven, but plausible. Perhaps it's time to get rid of the dead wood: Cole, Oulare (lol), Schmidt, big Vic (it pains me to say it but he just doesn't score enough). I think Morris and/or Woodrow will sadly be off. Slim pickings.
Thomas did okay for Coventry in league one while on loan from derby. He has the ability if his heads in the right place he can do well.
Backwards was he ever forward apart from one pass to styles at qpr away which some fans have been creaming over ever since.
It's a very big if though isn't it? And not like he'd likely be in a confident squad of a decent calibre to help him through. Might also be a lot of bad memories for him.
Seriously?? Are things going to be improved next season? So called lesser opposition are not that!! If we still employ the present numskull then I'd be content with avoiding relegation!
I agree i wouldnt back on him coming good was just saying the lad once did do well in that league and has the ability. Been in a bad place and hasnt looked the same player but i do feel for him abit i hope he can recover his football career.
I think we'll sell Helik, Styles, Morris and Kane. Maybe Collins, Brittain, Andersen or Woodrow too. Obviously no chance of the loanees staying. We'll have an influx of unwanted loaned out players that will be tough to shift, plus the likes of Cole. I can't see Iseka in league 1 somehow - I have a feeling he could've been a good signing for us if we'd been a decent team. It's essential we get Wolfe signed up on a new deal. Oduor and Halme will probably be allowed to leave - I like them but they've had a few years to break in now. Palmer might be worth keeping. I think we'll be left with: Walton Williams Brittain Andersen Kitching Moon Benson Wolfe Hondermarck Adeboyejo Cole Woodrow Thomas Aitchison
Although Morris is a great player, he may be seen as injury prone. I don’t see it as nailed on that he’ll go. Same may be said of Woodrow after this season.
If you thinkAndersen and Woodrow will still be here next season I want some of the meds you’ve taking.Prayer we haven’t got one.

Sure I've seen something somewhere that clubs relegated from the Championship get a one off parachute payment of 11.1% (random figure that) of the cash they would've received as a Championship club. Would amount to around £700k if true.
