Takes bo llocks that mate. One and only time I put 100 on a horse was Royal Ascot at York. Rakti drifted out in the betting so I dived in. Wish I hadn't because I'd backed the winner Valixir at £5 win at 6's in the morning and it got me a Round Robin up for £37 quid. The rush of blood cost me. That's gambling though. I was in the Prince of Wales Greasbrough in 2019 saying Tiger Roll couldn't win off 11 stone 5. Then had a couple of winners and thought f cuk it and banged £20 on it.
Any Second Now, Lostintranslation, Longhouse Poet, Fiddlerontheroof, Escaria Ten, Snow Leopardess and Eclair Surf all could beat him! That said, I think he has a very good chance (see above). But the critical calculation is this. He is best-priced 9/1 at the moment. That represents a 10% chance. If you think he has a better than 10% chance then you have a good bet. If not, leave alone. But only you will know whether that sort of stake is sensible in regard to your means. If it's your normal bet, go ahead. If it's a big bet for you, then have a think whether it's betting sensibly. The National is no better or worse than any other race in terms of form coming to the fore, so far as I am concerned. But you have to factor in that a horse needs reasonable luck in such a big field.
Admirable mare, and she won over these fences in the Becher Chase in December. But she won that race by a nose and must race off a 6 lbs higher mark on Saturday. I'm struggling to think she'd find the extra to win the National, but you couldn't say she has no chance. It would be a great story, with her having returned to racing after foaling. For me, others have more persuasive claims. But how often does the 'story' horse win the National?
First Day honours go to Mr Dawson there with three winners! Pic D'Ohry ended his chances with that mistake. I got my money back on Pied Piper as Bet365 pay out on the double result (FPTP/official result). I was disappointed with Kateira's performance and Harry never seemed to put her in the race. She was nearest at the finish! I'm with Nicky's two in the first today to small stakes. I've doubled Jonbon and Braveman'sgame which are very strong chances but very short prices, and I like Fakir D'Oudairies in the Melling (3.30). The Topham (4.05) is a fascinating race over the National fences. Further to the debate we were having about weight yesterday, it will put things to the test somewhat. Arguably the class horses of the race are the Mullins and De Bromhead horses at the top of the weights! Paul Townend and Rachael Blackmore ride. Interestingly, Rachael's horse (Notebook) is having it's first start in a handicap.
Cheers mate. I'm on all the short priced ones today. 1:45 Langer Dan win. Balco Coastal and Broomfield Burg e/w. 2:20 Jonbon win. 2:55 Bravemansgame win. 3:30 Fakir D'Oudiaires win. Hitman e/w. 4:05 Mister Coffey and Senior Citizen e/w. 4:40 Banbridge win. Skytastic e/w. 5:15 Richmond Lake and Hacker Des Places e/w. I've joined Skybet today. The offer said place a £5 win single and get £20 as free bets credited as £10 bet tokens. I've had a £5 single and not received my free bet tokens. Anyone else had this problem?
I'm a massive idiot. I didn't realise that £2.50 e/w didn't count for the Skybet offer. I then placed a £5 win bet but then found out the offer only counts for the first bet placed. Nice one Sky. Conning ********. Now I've an extra account I don't particularly want or need. Just for being a smart arse. To boot if I win owt I'll have to go through the rigmarole of verifying my account. Even though I don't hold a driving license or current passport. Crap start to the day.
Agree with the Jonbon/Bravemans double. If Saint Calvados is going to win a grade one, then today is the day. He travelled like Harchibald in the King George until fading late. I like Discordantly in the Topham, as well as Mac Tottie - I'll have a few quid on both. Oh, and if Langer Dan doesn't win the first then I'll cry. I said the same at Cheltenham and the poor thing didn't get past the first!
I take that back. I contacted them and they put the two £10 bets in my account as a good will gesture.
Two selections for me today. Royal Rendevous' 4.05 and Faivoir 5.15 Anyone wishing to follow me might like to know that yesterday three of my selections failed to finish and one came 4th. Also I came 121954th in the ITV 7 competition so room for improvement.
Grand National Day is upon us: 1:45 Ilikedwayurthinkin, Mill Green e/w. 2:20 Three Stripe Life win. Stage Star e/w. 3:00 Gentleman De Mee win. Mick Pastor e/w. 3:35 Thyme Hill win. Sire Du Berlais e/w. 4:15 Shan Blue win. Adrimel e/w. 5:15 Longhouse Poet, Fiddlerontheroof and Good boy Bobby e/w. 6:20 Rath Gaul Boy win. Henri the Second e/w.
