As stated on Thursday, I'm on Any Second Now/Delta Work/Eclair Surf. Today I've added a small bet on Commodore. I had this one on my original shortlist and I see Tom Segal has now put him up. Elsewhere I'm with Good Risk At All and Walking On Air in the 2.25. Both have scope for huge improvement. For the nap though we go to Thirsk 2.40. On his seasonal debut last year MUTASAABEQ won a 7 furlong Class 3 Conditions Stakes at Newmarket by six lengths, following which he went off third favourite for the 2,000 Guineas. He is in at the same level on his return here, and has won all three of his starts outside of Group company. Jim Crowley travels up for this one ride. Only 11/8, but I think he is very interesting. Well done on Langer Dan, Fonzie. I backed him at Cheltenham but cursed his trousers yesterday as he beat my two of Nicky's into second and third!
Discorama and Good Boy Bobby in the National and Killer Kane in the 4:15 with Red connections. Are there anymore?
1:45 Mill Green for George Miller. 3:00 Mick Pastor for Mick Butler. 3:35 Thyme Hill for Keeeeef Hill. 4:15 Killer Kane for Herbie Kane. 5:15 Discorama for Martin Devaney. 6:20 Ernest Gray for Andy Gray. If those six all win get the five star villa booked
I think this'll be a decent day for punting - there's some pretty good bets. I've nearly bought If The Cap Fits this year, and I still think it's on a stonking handicap mark. Stayed on to be 5th at Cheltenham, won the graded hurdle here two years ago. Likes the ground and the track. My main bet of the day. Tea Clipper ran 4th at Cheltenham in the 3m handicap - threatened on the home bend before not quite staying up the hill imo. Flatter track and decent ground - and I'll think he'll shat up. In the big un, Discorama and Run Wild Fred will be carrying my coin. Disco was 7th last year, and just faded slightly due to a lack of prep run (imo). This year he comes into the race a fitter horse, and the price is huge. Stays 4 miles, and fine on the ground. Run Wild Fred has similar credentials. 2nd at Cheltenham in the 3m6 novice. Placed in the Irish National. I can't see those two out of the first 4 or 5 granted a clear round. Might have a win only on Delta Work also - if he touches 12s.
My selections (£1 each way) on the following: Cloth cap 25/1 Dingo dollar 40/1 Fiddlerontheroof 14/1 Good boy Bobby 25/1 Minella Times 9/1 Run Wild Fred 16/1
Interesting. Maybe to check you're over 18 then but I've not been asked for mine with Skybet account.
I think it's new accounts. There was a bit of legislation passed the other year that had to verify accounts or summat. I think.
Discorama at 33s and Longhouse Poet at 12s. I put them on with Skybet with them offering 7 places instead of 6 like other bookies.
Mixed grand national for me, put £62.50 ew on delta work cost me £125, only because bet365 offered me back half my stake which they did so actually cost me £62.50 and won £191 so I was up £130ish. Also had £15 win on any second now which came second to 50/1 horse, so I was rather disappointed with the outcome so cost me a little bit, but all in all still up in profit. Bookies probably made a lot of money today.
When Mark Walsh went past Sam on the run-in I thought we had it in the bag! Great rides by both jockeys, with the better horse on the day at the weights prevailing. Jack Kennedy also rode a terrific race on Delta Work. Same ride as at Cheltenham, he hunted round quietly and made ground over the last two or three. Just not quite the petrol to sustain his challenge at these weights (as predicted by Mr Dawson!) Thank goodness for Mutasaabeq! A nice cash out on Scottie and Cameron over at Augusta means I don't have to stay up too late tonight! Craven Meeting and the Newbury classic trials this week sees the start of another exciting period!
