Just catching up with the results etc from the weekend. Saw National League and Stockport and Wrexham pulled in 7800 and 9200 respectively at home against Southend and Eastleigh. Incredible support that. I know they're both riding high but still excellent. If they both do go up there's a good chance in L2 that they'll get bigger crowds than us in L1. Incredible to consider that 2-3 years ago.
Just shows what having boards who actually invest in the club's they own rather than taking money out to cover their debts can achieve with both on field success and growing attendances. Our board have had the chance to build on successful seasons and a supportive fan base twice now and royally ****** up both times. Once is careless twice is incompetence.
All it shows me is no matter which league you`re in ,people will come & watch when you`re winning games.
Having Hollywood investors turning up for games definitely helps. I wonder if Brad Pitt fancies reprising his role as Billy Beane for our next home game
Or we could get Ricky Tomlinson in as Mike Bassett in place of Poya. That might actually be a good idea......
Did you see how much Stockport lost in their last accounts? Obviously massively impacted by Covid, but they lost £50k a week and over £4m for the season. Funded by a £2.6m loan from a related company. They went on a bigger spending spree after these accounts were finalised, so looking at achieving their goal of promotion but with a £7m debt. What happens if promotion doesn't come off and the owner gets bored with his local experiment? As for Wrexham. They've arguably got the most famous owners globally in all of sport. Some of the promo videos being shot by Ryan Reynolds in particularly would definitely encourage anyone local to get back to the Racecourse Ground.
Stockport are heavily in debt if I was a Stockport supporter I would be worried carrying that level of debt at that level. Wrexham have some famous owners but they don't seem to have done much yet. The ground is supposedly getting done up but that's down to the council not the owners..... https://www.wrexham.com/news/wrexha...-start-as-part-of-gateway-project-214799.html
Less than Stockport's? It's almost like you've deliberately chosen to ignore 99% of what I've sent you there.
Again, you've literally ignored anything I've said and then told me I'm averse to sensible investment. Given we're running at a loss, and I don't want these owners to loan us a single penny based on previous insight of what they did with Nice, what kind of investment would you like and how do you want it structured? The word sensible needs to be linked to how we run the business and the strategy we have for that. Not investment.
