Nancy have bigger problems like a transfer ban to my understanding. They have problems with income after the TV broadcasting problems. Barnsley have 1% at an away ground shouting Conway out 3 times then shutting up.
I don't see what is trouble causing about it so we'll have to differ on that one.I was just telling what had been said in the meeting as asked, because I appreciate being told about one's I've not attended. I'm not happy with our owners , AS Nancy fans aren't happy with them either. It's a discussion board and I'm just discussing the fact that our owners have categorically refused to face the fans or the Supporters Trust over here, yet they are speaking to ASNancy.
Do you actually believe 90 odd percent of Barnsley fans are happy with what's going on? Have you actually read this forum for a start? Do you think our owners are doing a good job?
Do you not think the empty seats speak volumes of what fans want? The strongest protest is to withdraw support and money.
Discrediting the CEO doesn't help Helen. I'm a fan of the bigger system but I'm getting to the point where I'm a little f*cked off with the owners. If people want that then make it about that. Not the CEO that arrived in September said one thing that maybe I didn't understand and hammer him and anyone that defends that. BTW I'm not saying the latter you.
I don't think a lot of people are happy with the Owners and that includes more than Chien Lee and Paul Conway. Do I think a lot of people want them out? NO. They want them to Face up.
It's not great to see. Its not something I could do. I prefer to make my opinions felt. Be critical but still support the team.
It's different but the one that has attracted scrutiny and complaint from supporters and other clubs is the fact that Nancy 'sold' a 24 year old striker with 15 career goals who they got on a free in summer 2020 to group member Ostend for a rather, ahem, generous 5 million euros last summer and then loaned him back for two years! Probably more to Ostend's detriment than Nancy's but seemingly a 'device' to artificially improve the latter's finances under scrutiny from the regulator - I don't think there were any other bidders for the player!
Given that tne CEO has done nothing so far to repair any of the damage caused by the owners I'll continue to assume that he does as he's told. The minute he starts to make progress on things like the state of the ground, a more flexible recruitment policy, more successful communication with fans then I'll start to believe he is turning things around. I've nothing against him personally but, as yet I've seen nothing other than to suggest he's only in 99% control as long as he does what he's told. Time will tell.
That's the issue with owning multiple clubs. For example if this summer we sell lots of players, don't spend much of what we make, but another of their clubs breaks a transfer record or goes on a spending spree our fans will be wondering if money has left our club for others.
Barnsley have a few different ownership structures than the others. Chien Lee Pacific Media Group (Paul Conway, Grace Hung) Partners Path Capital Krishen Sud
I think it does. But after a run of fairly positive results, the 'big game' against Reading had far less empty seats than the others. A lot of supporters had returned (and some still stayed away). I think that shows that performances on the pitch would possibly bring back 50% of those actively staying away at the moment. Problem is, you can't fix on field performances/entertainment between now and the end of the season to influence season ticket sales. I don't even think winning four of the last six would generate hope for Poya and this squad, such is the level of disenfranchisement out there on the tactics and style (before we get to the owners and the strategy).
and that captures the fact that people have very different views on what makes them go or not go to Oakwell. For some results drive their attendance for others the matter runs much deeper.
Ever since the French Revolution mate.. it's in their DNA that those in power will listen to the masses.
Yep. Which is the point I was making. The first realistic step, given the silence from the owners and the likeliness that breaking that silence might not provide any positive news, is building an entertaining and successful football team that competes. It won't bring everyone back but it will bring some. The problems behind the scenes might take a bit longer to sort out.
The problem they are facing is, without external cash, they are looking at selling any player with resale value. This then undermines the ability of a future manager to build an entertaining winning team. The financial position is not a single dimension but a critical issue that Khaled is going to struggle to address.
I wouldn't read too much into the returning fans at the Reading game as a sign of any long term intent. It was a huge game in terms of this season and one that even I was planning to attend on the basis that I could do so whilst continuing my personal NAPM pledge. It was also going to be a personal 'farewell' to the seat that I've sat in for nearly 25 years, before someone else chooses it when my ST expires. As it turned out, an unexpected issue cropped up and I couldn't attend, but my intent to be there to cheer the team on in a relegation 6-pointer was only based on the fact that everything was already pre-paid. I'd have probably done the same thing for the Peterborough game, if it had any relevance to this season's outcome, but that now seems very unlikely.
Respectfully take that on board, but I think with a better performance and three points we'd be looking at renewed optimism for the game on Easter Monday. Not everyone was attending to say 'farewell' - they just didn't want to miss it as we'd picked up some form and it was a huge game. The more huge games we can have (at the right end of the table) the more supporters will come back. Football has always been a results based business and it doesn't change at Oakwell for many.
