I think we can all see we will be playing in league 1 next season. Poya will go and with his elevation to the match day bench Devaney could be favourite to be the new coach. It would be a cheap but popular decision. I also think due to a lack of offers or offers meeting our owners valuations and a hope for a quick return back to the championship that not many players in contract may leave. Does anyone know from watching the under 23s, inside knowledge, press cuttings etc what will Devaney's style of play and preferred formation be? This squad minus the loanees is a very strong squad for league 1 and with the right coach it could be an entertaining successful season. Collins, Williams Helik Anderson Kitching Britain Wolfe Kane Styles Woodrow Morris. Walton Halme Moon Benson Iseka Vic Marsh Cole Aitchison Oduor Thomas Schmidt.
Our valuations will reduce. If more than 5 of your proposed starting XI are starting the first game of the 22-23 season, I’d be amazed.
These owners as bad as they are in recent years do not have a record of selling players in contract on the cheap. No reason to change with the benefits of a successful league 1 campaign and return to the money in the championship.
The style of play throughout the club is the same dull **** we see each week as the style of play is dictated from above (as admitted by Khaled).
Morris, Styles & Helik will 100% be leaving. Possibly Woodrow as well, but 50/50 on that. All the out of contract players will leave except maybe Palmer who is playing for a contract now. All new signings will be free transfers
Benefits of keeping these players may outway taking the reduced offers. The main question is does any one have any idea if Devaney will be any good, i think that team is strong enough to win league 1.
Benefits do outweigh sales but I’m sure we’ll be plugging the revenue gap first. An additional problem is that lower-mid table Championship clubs will now be a desirable destination for players. I’m seeing ‘undisclosed’ sales to Preston, Cardiff etc. You might need a place in the team for Herbie.
Just checked and this summer only Palmer Halme and the loanees are out of contract. Halme we have an option of an extra year
I think they’ve gone on record saying that players will be sold mate we have about 7m gap to fill and they certainly won’t be putting their hands in their own pockets, history tells us that
This maybe the time we have all been waiting for and the owners put their hand in their pocket to help BFC by holding on to these players. If they do is Devaney the right man to be in charge because if we do hold on and dont get back to the championship then the problem becomes bigger with these owners.
Previously, the only saving grace with the ownership was their lack of sales 'on the cheap'. Whether this was down to no bids, or through their own choices however we'll never know - it depends whether Khaled was lying during whichever interview he told his initial lies. However, we're now facing a shortfall of around seven million quid - so player sales will simply have to happen. Logically Helik will be the first to go I reckon - a full international in his mid 20s should bring in around half of rhe shortfall. We have Anderson and Kitching who in theory should be OK at League One level. I can also see Collins and one of Woodrow and Morris to move on. Probably Morris will be of most benefit to us - as the rumours of the huge sell on clause with Woodrow means its pretty pointless flogging him. If Collins leaves, then we have Walton, who again should he fine at League One.
If the club can’t recoup around £8m in sales in the summer then, without an injection of capital, the club will run out of cash. They may not have been forced sellers in the past but I think they would prioritise that over putting their hands in their pockets. Time will tell but things do not look good at the moment.
I'd be more than happy with your team' unfortunately there will be a fire sale to try and recoup the losses of relegation' i don't see Helik' Anderson 'Brittain ' Styles' or Morris being here next season' we may keep hold of Cauley due to his lack of game time. Its gonna be a long summer.
