Why on earth would they pump in £8m plus to take a punt on promotion at the first attempt by one of the worst Championship squads in history when they wouldn't put in a few hundred thousand in January to give themselves a shot at not losing the £8m in the first place?!
Look at the squad on my OP with a decent coach don't you think that squad would piss league 1. I do. That's why I would think they would be in a better financial position in 12 months time going back in to the championship. We don't need to keep the loans or bring in any new players, just keep these and coach them well.
Nobody knows what team/group of players we’ll have come august but I’d put a large wager it won’t be the squad in the opening post. Once we’ve seen the squad, then we can make the predictions as to where we’ll finish.
That was more a best 11 of the players that I can be confident of staying. But I think the starting 11 will be stronger come August. There’ll be one or two surprises in who stays and maybe a surprise bid or two for players that I listed. But I think Helik will be sold along with at least three out of Collins, Andersen, Kane, Britain, Morris and Woodrow. How strong a team we put together next season depends on how much money we can bring in for them. If they can only command a million or so each, then it will be a clear out. If two or three of them can bring in 2-3m it puts us in a stronger position. All depends on what clauses are in their contracts.
No, I don't think that that squad would p!ss league 1 tbh. It's the same squad that got played off the park by Bolton and 10 man Barrow for a start! But that's a legitimate difference of opinion. The plain fact of the matter is that the question doesn't arise - these owners are never, ever going to put the money in to offset the losses that would arise next year.
I’m sorry. But your unrelenting positivity grates somewhat given we’ve just touched rock bottom. Although this may not actually be rock bottom of course. You clearly see something in all of this that evades me. Like most supporters I hope you are right: I just don’t see it.
He's getting first team experience now though and if that continues next season I don't think he necessarily had to drop down to league 2 to get his chance.
We need to raise that money or I presume be will be very near to admin. We can’t keep all those players we would be massively over the salary cap.
If we have a mass exodus of our most experienced players and have to start next season with a new foriegn coach and new unknown young players even I will be worried and negative. I would be thankful to our owners if next season they invested nothing other than keeping the ground safe, kept the players in the OP and let Poya go and give it Devaney. This cost nothing other than the current salaries, if that fails I will also give up.
Is that based on what he has done as a U23 coach or his obvious commitment to the club? Genuine question as I dont really follow the U23.
Ambitious that you think of his mob will improve Oakwell in any way. I look forward to you facing reality I’d be amazed if we have more than 3 current starters next season and if we don’t have a foreign manager.
To do what you suggest and ‘invest nothing’ other than that, they would likely have to inject £7million or more into the club. They won’t. There’s nothing wrong with positivity but it has to be realistic. We might have a good season but we can’t and won’t retain all those players.
