What is the situation with him now.The Belgian clubs season ended yesterday. Can he now return and save our season ?
Oulare's team finished second in the second division and so are involved in a two leg promotion/relegation play-off against the team that finished second bottom of the first division over the next two Saturdays. I'm sure Obbi's dynamic 4 minute appearances in each game will make all the difference.
More good news! Obbi played 20 minutes off the bench in the first leg of the play off final. His team lost 1-0 at home.
He ort to be brought back and start every game next season.. ***** or good we're paying him top dollar.
Obbi has made what? 2/3 appearances off the bench. Even if they are only covering a very small proportion of his wages I reckon they will be looking for ways to send him back. And we will have to try and find some other poor b******* to take him on!
nah, it'll be another Berahino situation. Where he just rots in the reserves with the occasional loan move - it's changed for Berahino now, but can't see it changing for Obbi! And we're the ones burdened with it - even with our financial losses!!
I suspect he's a lost cause. Another frimpong who just doesn't care enough about being a pro footballer, regardless of which team it's with. Massive fk up from Conway. Just have to take the sunk costs on the chin.
See, that doesn't bother me. (Obviously it does cos it's costing us, but the actual mistake, no). The problem that bothers me is the lack of communications, apologies etc. He comes out, says I co cked it up, took it on the word of an agent and it's failed. Fair enough. But time and time again, mistakes are made with 0 coming from the board. It's infuriating
I would have thought that there must be ways of getting such players off the wage bill. Surely football isn't unique in terms of being up to doing the job and managing poor performance. So providing he has no confirmed injuries, set him specific fitness targets. If he doesn't achieve these, then sorry termination of contract without payout. Failing that, can we not find the original receipt..
I assume he is on a low basic tipped up with appearances so the outlay is relatively small. With this lot anything could be true.
Exactly but how much professionalism can we expect when we take a young lad from a poor background, who's already had one failed 7 figure move to England, a terrible injury record and say "we will give you a contract that is a million quid in gauranteed income"?
I've got no answer I'm afraid. One of the worst, if not the worst, signing I can remember. People will throw up Mido and Frimpong, but they didn't really cost us that much and were offloaded sharpish. This is a 3-yr contract worth ~£1m in wages, on someone who probably won't kick a ball for us. Gross negligence IMO.
He was always a massive gamble with the amount of games he had played in the previous seasons. To give him 7k a week and a 3 year deal mental.
