    Evening loko

what response {if any} did you ever get from Conway with regards to the supporters meeting and answering our questions ? Or are you still sat waiting like the rest of us for him to respond ?

Evening. Based on the fact it hasn’t happened, what do you reckon? You don’t really need to ask…

Media have asked as well so already been covered by Chron or YP

Just sums up the cowardness and sheer unprofessionalism of Conway that he refuses to attend meetings / questions etc requested by the official BFC supporters trust

League one promotion season he was like flies on fresh sh*t with his mug showing up at nearly every away game and spouting in the media. But now we see Jesus more than him he is a nobody.

him and the locusts need to fu*k off quick sharp they are destroying our club

He was CEO of the club. Of course he would be visible. He was also living in the UK.
He wants the CEO to take the lead. He said that at the time.
Did @Loko the Tyke think he was bad then too?

@Wath and West Melton Can I ask you why you don't want to hear from The Cryne Family or Neerav Parekh?

I’ve pretty consistently questioned or challenged both ‘eras’ with Paul Conway as CEO. I’ve regularly said that to this model/strategy tends to work when you’ve got a strong head coach working in tandem with a strong CEO.

It’s gone pear shaped each time we’ve lost that partnership.

A lot of people seem convinced that Oulare & Leya Iseka are two of the biggest earners at the club. That must’ve come from somewhere. Reports of £7,000 a week for Oulare.

The vast majority of the time when rumours do the rounds they turn out to be true.

You’re right it will be interesting but we’ll all have probably moved on by then.

Perhaps I am naive. Perhaps Conway did want to run the business through a transfer window. However, I am not naive about financial matters and I am not naive about reading a set of accounts.

Barnsley FC had borrowed £3.6m from the EFL. We know that the EFL want their money back within 2 years, and we know that they will deduct installments from the revenue that they distribute to clubs. There was money in the bank, but that is merely a cushion against that borrowing. The club was not yet insolvent, but if it had another year like the last, it would be. It needed cash, but no-one wanted our players. Conway knew the club was desperate for cash, but he also knew that the policy of PMG was not to provide new capital simply to finance more losses.

So what do companies do in these circumstances? They cut back! They watch what they spend and they make no long term commitments that will incur future cost. The guy who has to do that is never going to be popular. He is the bearer of bad news, and bad news is hard to accept. Nevertheless, it has to be done if the company is to survive. The cut backs are by no means over after a relegation season, and someone is going to have to do another round of cut backs. The club cannot continue to lose money, or it will not survive. My nativity does not extend to not realising that there is trouble ahead.

Cut backs don't explain spunking money up the wall signing a waster from Belgium and his mate to come with him. If I was short of cash I wouldn't be wasting money on something like that. Nor would I be wasting money getting someone out of a contract with man city (or whoever)

If the role of Paul Conway was to cutback the wage bill, then he’s achieved that by the contract elements that reduce pay on relegation.

His summer dealings hardly smacked of a CEO on a cost cutting agenda.

    Very much agree.

I do think El Ahmad had his hands tied in January and had to juggle things to get a couple of loans in, but even still, given our accounts for 2021 we'd be aware of the losses we'd have to swallow in 2022 fin accounts.

But there is very little evidence of significant cost cutting to be at break even at championship level, let alone at league 1 level.

The club said in the summer that it would take record bids to see us sell any first team players, ie £5m+. Conway came out and said himself that the books were balanced and we didn’t need to sell.

Odd comments for a club desperate to bring in cash. If they were, I’m sure they could have got 7 figure sums for a few of the players.

Benson Oulare Iseka Cole all cost money - we did get c £3Million for selling our manager and around 750K for Chaplin so I am guessing thats where that all went but we certainly didnt try to save significant cash last summer

I think this summer will be quite different though a lot depends on the contracts of players on higher salaries and how much they are reduced on relegation and what that does to any release fee's. Its hard to see many players agreeing to a 50% wage cut and still having a large release fee in their contract so the likes of Woodrow may well be able to leave for a much smaller fee than if someone wanted him this season

We are in trouble if we dont offload several of our players though unless Conway does plan to put his hand in his pocket - but we all know thats rather unlikely

You're preaching to the converted, I've been saying for a long time our costs are unsustainable and carrying such a huge first team squad is ridiculous.

I do think our wage levels "should" be less in the 2022 accounts than 2021 given Mowatt, Sollbauer and Chaplin left, as well as Ritzmaier, together with the play off bonuses. And we've tried to get some contribution for the more disastrous of our signings that have been shipped out on loan. But I still think we're likely to be losing over £2m.

Never suggested you were. I specifically said in regards to Paul Conway and him becoming CEO.

In regards to wages, Oulare and Iseka will be taking the wages of Mowatt and Soll.
