Was he at Oakwell yesterday or did he go back home after watching Nancy at the weekend? Just seen this new article...... https://maligue2.fr/2022/04/19/nanc...l-ne-serait-pas-une-catastrophe-industrielle/ He doesn't see Nancy being relegated as a disaster. He mentions the risk of relegation when they purchased the club but that was around 18 months ago so the risk that was there when they bought the club that they could be relegated was for last season.
Here's a full copy of the interview with the newspaper which the website extracted from:- Have you ever come to Nancy in your life, before this Easter weekend? No, this is my first time in Nancy. With my wife who accompanied me, we love the city very much. It's very pretty. We had time to visit a little, after attending the match on Saturday at the Marcel-Picot stadium. This is only your first at Nancy and ASNL, a year and a half after the club was bought. Can you understand that it shocks the nancy's supporters? Yes, but it wasn't easy to come before either. Since the club was bought out, there have been a bunch of travel restrictions with Covid. The important thing is to be here today when ASNL is going through a difficult period. I have talked with sponsors, partners, I have an appointment with you, this Monday, before meeting the supporters and the association. We also have exchanges with communities. During the match against Niort on Saturday in Picot (0-2), there was, in the Piantoni Tribune, a banner "New City Capital out". How did you react to seeing this? The disappointment of the fans is legitimate but it must be understood that I share it, that we share it. Like the fans, we are very disappointed with this season. There are no supporters on one side and the club on the other. We are all in the same boat and we all want this boat to be a great success in the future. Could you still consider a resale of the ASNL if the fan protest continues in the coming months and weeks? No. In sport and in football in particular, there are so many hazards that you have to accept, sometimes, to experience a difficult season like this. We are here to work for the long term. A descent into the National would not be an industrial disaster for us. We had integrated this share of risk at the time of the purchase of the club. We must not forget that the team was 17th in L2 in December 2020. According to Olivier Rouyer, one of the great players in the history of the ASNL, who would have a project to buy the club with investors, you would have nevertheless made it known that the resale price would be around 12 million euros... I don't know where this fake news comes from. We have no intention of selling the club. So there is no price. We are happy to own a club like ASNL in France. It is a club that counts with a prestigious history, a loyal audience and a training center of great reputation. According to some rumors, you were also approached by the former emblematic president of the club Jacques Rousselot, accompanied by investors, last December, but you would not have followed up. Do you confirm this info? No. I can repeat it several times if necessary: AS Nancy Lorraine is not for sale. We are focusing our energy on the next season and the years to come. We are here for a long time. In the organizational chart of the ASNL, you are the chairman of the board of directors. Should we deduce from this that you are the main decision-maker among the shareholder group, the man who has the most weight? No. We are all the bosses! Whether it's Paul (Conway), Michael (Kalt), Randy (Frankel), Krishen (South) or myself. It's a team effort. We have a meeting every week to make the best decisions about the club together. But in the operation of the club, there are shareholders abroad like you and there is Gauthier Ganaye rarely in Nancy. How is it possible to govern in this way? We have great confidence in Gauthier who has already brought us a lot of success in Barnsley, Nice and Ostend. But we also know how to learn from our mistakes. That's why we have already started to set up a different organization with the arrival of Max (Kothny) who has already gained a great experience in Germany, with Vikram (South) who is also there and with Nabil (El Yaagoubi) who takes more responsibility. It is essential to respect the identity and history of each of our clubs, relying on local people who know everything about the environment. About ten days ago, Paul Conway, one of the other shareholders, also spoke for the first time in the media to announce, in particular, the imminent restructuring of the club. Can you go into more detail? No, this is not the time. I can just tell you that we have worked on two scenarios, one in L2 in case of retention and another in National in case of relegation. Financially, the situation is very complicated with various late payments and the deficit of the club around € 4 million. How are you going to do it? We will assume our responsibilities, as we did last year. There is no question of letting the club down. Will next season's sports project go through Albert Cartier as coach? As Paul (Conway) has already said, Albert had the courage to accept this very difficult challenge during the season. I appreciate his "fighting spirit". The coach also has a lot of experience, we know that he managed to raise a club (Metz) from National to L1. But the season is not over. We will think carefully and we will announce the name of the coach when the time is right. For a year and a half, there have already been many beautiful words that have not been followed by effects, such as on the quality of play with "gegenpressing" or recruitment with data. What can you say today to reassure all those who have lost confidence? It may take time but we are determined to succeed in Nancy and we will get there.
Probably worth noting that Chien did a very, very similar visit and interview in Nice on May 4th 2019. Nice were sold on June 28th 2019, less than eight weeks later .
It's gotten to a stage where it doesn't really matter what they say. They've over egged, obfuscated and hid during their tenure, and given we're the club they've owned the longest out of their stable we've plenty of data to suggest wait to see what happens rather than take their words at face value.
This is complete guesswork on my part. My gut instinct is that some form of negotiations are going on and they are all under NDA's.
So they have retention in France too. "And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it, Here we go oh Retention all over the world."
Could make the manager situation a bit tricky though hopefully no matter what the break clause will be triggered and Poya will be gone
Until any heads of agreement are signed off, the incumbents have to continue as if they will be here beyond this season. Whether anything concludes is anyones guess, but I'd be very surprised if some discussions haven't taken place. But it is pure instinct I'm basing that on.
They will be sold this summer and as usual they will declare their time there a massive success. Just as they will, when they finally leave Barnsley. I can't write my opinion of them,I'm disappointed that Gauthier has stayed with them,I thought he had more integrity.
Someone get on the blower to Nick Candy to see if he's still interested in buying a Football club as he got turned down for Chelsea. I could just see Holly Valance cheering us on in the west stand upper.
Agree with this too, there's been a few comments on here recently about a brighter future, lots to look forward to etc from some that appear to be in the know. Of course it could be complete bull **** but I wonder if Conway/Chien are looking to get out as their investors aren't willing to cover any further shortfall in costs. Walk away before their reputation outside of the area really takes a hit...
Wouldn’t want that far right, Tory donating, Boris loving, tax dodging lunatic anywhere near our football club.
Me neither and he is a Chelsea fan - hence the interest in Chelsea - he would have zero interest in a mediocre northern side
