These 2 would be my core priority to keep next season and build the team around them with Wolfe being a positive to have already signed a new contract. That said, I just can't honestly see us keeping hold of both Helik & Morris though, especially Helik given his stats during his time with us. I suspect that he will be the main person of interest and be used to try and claw back the inevitable loss in revenue as a league 1 side. It's going to be more of a case of how much we can hold out for before the board cave in on a transfer fee. Personally I wouldn't listen to anything under £5m + sell ons for Helik. If nobody meets that valuation then he is one of the key personnel to get us out of league 1 at the first attempt. It's evident the longer a club spends in that league the harder it becomes to get out.

From a manager perspective, we should be getting shut immediately of Poya and his coaching staff. Bring in someone who can have a look at what we have for the last 2/3 games so they can decide who just won't cut the mustard next season. Said it for past few managers, my choice would be someone like Nigel Clough.

    Tough times ahead though.

No way we'll keep either of those. Not a prayer.

Yeah sadly they’re our 2 top saleable assets. They’ll go.

    No chance of keeping them.
ESP Helik, as L1 football won’t help his international career.
    Prob same for Styles.

And Styles, Woodrow and Helik ought to go a long way to making up the shortfall in ££s

There’s no way we’ll keep hold of Helik. Polish international who’s going to the World Cup, he’ll want games at a decent level between now and the end of the year to make sure that happens. Imagine he’ll (understandably) have had his agent looking around for something for a few months. For those reasons, possible release clauses aside, you’d hope we’d be able to get a few quid for him.

I’d love us to be able to keep Morris, if he stayed fit I think he’d genuinely be in with a shout of league’s top scorer in league 1 (anyone remember the last time a reds player was the league’s top scorer? Has it ever happened?). His injury record is the only thing that makes me think we might have shred of a chance of keeping him, but I’d imagine a few champ clubs would be having a look.

Can’t see Morris going imo unless he’s on a big wage ,
Although he’s played well for us he isn’t a prolific goal scorer or assists and can’t see other clubs forking out the sort of money we should demand .
Helik could go but that’s also depending on the wages he’s on here imo .
I’d say it’s the type of wages players are on whether they go or not rather than demand from other clubs .
Maybe Styles could command a decent fee but that’s it imo .

Be amazed if we get anywhere near £5m for Helik, I'd say we'll do well to get even half that. He's gone backwards this season and clubs know we're skint.
Morris looks like our most saleable asset and would be a great addition for most top half Championship clubs. He ought to fetch £3m.
As for a new boss if Poya leaves (hopefully when) we all know it'll be another unproven foreigner.
Might be unpopular with this but we could do worse than Darren Ferguson, great track record in L1.

They're gone. Along with Styles, Collins, Andersen & Woodrow.

I think those two are the most likely to leave - as much as I would love them to stay. Styles, Anderson and Collins too.

Not sure there's much point in selling Woodrow - if the sell on clause is correct.

I think we need to put some of our players and our situation into context again.

We have to find significant monies to plug the built up losses and generate short term cash flow, while cutting our wage bill significantly to be manageable at league 1 level.

So if we look at our players, we're going to need to generate somewhere between £6-8m this summer to be "comfortable" and ideally, that our bigger earners are included in that to assist the wage bill reductions.

I'd say given this seasons efforts, Helik and Morris haven't done themselves as much harm as other of our players. So they are at an age and time when they may well want to carry on playing at a level higher than league 1. If we kept them, this time next year they'd be approaching their 28th birthdays. This time next year, Helik will be available on a free transfer. Morris will be coming to the end of his contract, but has an option in the clubs favour to extend (though we don't know if there are caveats based on being in league 1).

We could also be in the position where we can't afford to offer the contractual terms to extend if we haven't got out of league 1 at the top end.

The same applies to Woodrow as it applies to Helik.

The same applies to Andersen, Styles, Collins, Brittain and Williams as applies to Morris.

If we don't sell some, if not all of those players this summer, firstly, I don't see how else we find the immediate revenues to make up for the losses we'll have accrued and be further faced with. Secondly, say we tried to keep them all and bounce back up, despite the mega losses that would generate and having to fund the clubs running through loans of some variety, we could get to the end of next season not being able to trigger contract extensions (and remember SCMP is more brutal than FFP) and losing many of our only assets for nothing.

I'd love to keep Morris and some of the others. But doing so would only increase our financial peril, though it may be to the detriment of on field performance.

No one is ever going to pay 5million pounds for a Barnsley player. Conway was holding out for unrealistic fees in the summer, they didn't happen and he concocted the ludicrous story of style of play,as the reason. In the current market, I don't see both players realising more than £1.75million, with add ons.

The one ray of hope with Morris is that he is never without injury.
A risk for anyone who signs him.

The transfer game is mostly operated by players' agents these days and I can see that the agents of Helik and Styles will be making overtures to Championship (or equivalent) clubs already. From the rumours, I would guess that Morris won't want to go back to League One and may have his agent already looking at clubs who would be willing to give him the chance to stay in the Championship. The club really ought to 'do a Peterborough' and start the bidding as high as possible for these players. I wish we could get back the pragmatism of a club run by folks who know the EFL scene, coached by someone with the same EFL experience (Critcheley, or Duff for me) and recruiting a balance of experienced (leaders on the pitch down the spine of the team) and young players to rebuild and redirect the club. Another inexperienced European coach and poor recruitment and I think that we will struggle to remain in League One. Oh, for the days of the Dennis and Cryne dynasties, when pragmatism and good old down to earth Barnsley attitudes and values prevailed. COYR

I'm sure he's a top lad and everything but I'm not sure I understand the clamor around Helik. We haven't half conceded a lot of goals this year. Centre halfs are easy to come by, especially at League One level, let's move on and not lose any sleep. The loss of Morris on the other hand concerns me much more - we'd do really well to keep him.

Think we need to keep Morris and build a team around him where as i think Helik,Woodrow and Collins will be on there bikes. Regarding Styles if some club offers around 2 million id personally get shut.

We've got to receive offers first. Given our situation, we might initially think a certain player is odds on to go, but then we receive an offer for someone else and have to take it.

I'd be surprised if Morris was here still next year. He's taken time to get to Championship level and he's doing well. He's entering his prime years, he's had a few injuries. Given those factors I'd fully expect him to want to maximise his time at the highest level possible, and thats certainly the Championship. Something we can't offer him next season.

I’d be surprised if both were still here come August.

Morris will have his suitors from championship teams and I imagine Helik will have too. If not, there will be plenty of teams around Europe who could pick him up.

Not sure which championship club would be interested in styles based on this season maybe wigan or rotherham if they go up but would they be able to afford what we want. I agree with helik and morris no chance they will play league one football will they. Along with anderson who needs to learn to pass a football and possibly collins they will be gone.
