    Apologies if already posted, but saw this comment attributed to Asbaghi, which sadly I think sums up his cautious approach;

    https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/22773/five-talking-points-from-peterborough-loss

In the last point; "He also said he wanted to delay bringing on an extra striker, in this case Victor Adeboyejo for Styles, until the final ten minutes when he felt Peterborough were less likely to hit them on the break."

So, at two nil down in a must win game. He's more concerned about conceding again than getting the three goals we need.

I lost any remaining faith in him after the Reading game, and his post match comments. But this is next level garbage.

I think its unlikely Doug made that quote up so he probably did actually say it. Even if his approach was successful - which it clearly isnt with our present group of players I am really not sure I would want to watch the reds if their approach was always focused on defence - give me a Stendell or Ishmael instead - even Lee Johnson understood you had to go forwards to win games
Just hoping he is gone on Friday night and we get a replacement who wants to win games rather than not lose them

In my view, it's poor quality journalism, looking to jump on a bandwagon for 'likes'.
Poya explained how he was looking to turn the game around and the first move was Palmer to Wolfe, before a final push with Adeboyejo.
Labelling Wolfe as a defensive midfielder suits the agenda.

It's crazy, he's seen us sit back and concede time after time, and keeps doing it. He seemed to accept us having a flat back 7 against Reading, and now says the reason he's delayed a change is because he's afraid of what the opposition will do. Far too cautious when you're in must win games.

Wolfe has been playing as a defensive midfielder, that's not an agenda. He's either been in the 2 of a 4-2-3-1 or the deepest of the three in a 4-3-3. I don't have any issue with bringing him on (though I think he should've started). But it was the reasoning for holding back on the third change that baffled me.

In which case, don't make the change at all, and he could've just said that he thought his best options were already on the pitch.

Exactly right. Wolfe has come all the way through the academy as a creative goalscoring midfielder. He's only been pushed into the defensive role as no one else can do it.

I understand what Poya's saying. It's not park Football.

You need to have a sense of control in the midfield to feed the ball through. Sports about balance, and if you don't have it you have nothing.

Millwall away. we had 5/6 attacking players on the pitch. One CM in Gomes and created zilch. They scored in that period.

As I've said elsewhere, I had no problem with Wolfe being brought on, he should be starting every game if he can imo. But the comments about why he waited to bring an extra forward on did not make any sense to me.

Don't want to sound like Donald Trump but that's Fake News.

Been watching Wolfe for 5 years now and have never seen that in him. He can carry the ball well at times but goal-scoring midfielder, really?

Also he drives with the ball a little less now but that's so he can play football at this level. Back problems are clearly an issue for him.

You would have to talk to Wolfe and the coaching/ Medical staff to be 100% about this but I'd be amazed if hes anywhere near the stage of playing 2 games in 4 days. Add a 4/5 hour round trip on that.

Quite possibly. But like I say, no issue with Wolfe coming on. It's his explanation of the third change and the timing of it that baffled me.

5 years?? Really??? Where at?? He only played half a season for the 23s when 16/17 and then was injured. All his youth and 23s was spent playing as an attacking midfielder, which is also where he was playing when he made his debut against forest.

Only during his spell at Esbjerg did he manifest himself into a holding midfielder, a job he's very comfortable at at this level.

I don't want to slam the guy because its easy to do that.

Saying that I was amazed he took Vita off. Again Balance. In whichever formation Vita fits into it naturally.

There are players that clearly can't be taken off or dropped, gomes and quina being 2.
