Having read the article I'm now starting to feel very sorry for Poya .... and Schopp .... and those who have fallen in battle before them. No wonder they look lost and depressed ! They fell for the guiles and persuasions of others who were going to offer nothing more than selfish ideas to further their own ends. The sheer incompetence and blatant interference from those "in charge" is very, very worrying and I now also feel sorry for the other European clubs that fell for their charms, i.e. money. My club has been destroyed by these idiots who think they can run football clubs like a supermarket, buy in and sell for profit, and even though I was prepared to give them a chance, having seen the aftermath of their destruction all over Europe I want them out of Oakwell asap. Who the flip replaces them is the next nightmare. I have no suggestions to offer. What is going to happen to my beloved BFC? I have no idea.
I think it will need someone at a higher level and someone with a history of detailed and forensic investigation, A David Conn like character. There are so many questions, not just about our ownership, but also stemming back to OGC Nice and the numerous purchases that followed ours. Much of the possible information is behind the Hong Kong firewall. There are numerous characters involved that need to be investigated, and I suspect there are perhaps ones behind opacity that we aren't potentially aware of.
I understand your sentiment but would you be happy to see all the good honest hard working staff lose their jobs ? & I am not on about the players
if the Club goes under, many many local people will be affected. people will lose their jobs, their livelihoods, in some cases their businesses.
i have no sympathy for Schopp after he refused to acknowledge the fans. Poya seems a decent guy though but he looks broken
I can see why people are saying this, but I personally don't think he's ever sounded confident or reassuring or anything like a leader, at any point. from day 1 he sounded every bit like an Under 21s manager to me. at no point has he given me any confidence he knows what's required at this level of football. to read that Neil Warnock was sat waiting for the phone to ring, just makes me angry.
It's the only thing that makes sense out of all this...basically holding a club to ransom. I think that's why they keep the previous ownership on board as minority shareholder(s)...someone they hope will care enough to broker a buyout. It worked at OGC Nice, but they are figuratively...and literally...a different league to the other clubs. There won't be much scope for profit left after they've finished mis-managing, relegating and therefore devaluing the others.
I think this is almost certainly the case. Just like at BFC, KVO Oostende have 5-6 named 'owners' on the Board - in our case Lee, Conway/Hung (PMG), Parekh and Cryne (the local), in their case Lee, Conway/Hung (PMG), Sud, Kalt/Frankel (PPC) and Dierckens (the local). However, the cat was let out of the bag by KVO Oostende's Finance Director in recent statements, who said "I often read that PMG is the main shareholder of KVO, but that is not true. PMG is one of the shareholders of Ostend Investment Company, a company that was founded to buy KVO. It is true that the American Paul Conway of PMG is the face of the various shareholders..............but there are actually about 25 shareholders in Ostend Investment Company." Who knows what characters are lurking in the depths of BFC Investment Company Limited?!?
Our best hope might be Conway and Chien mingling with like minded individuals at a convention somewhere and selling the club to them.
This is where investigations need to begin. At the investment vehicles and look into their make up and their financing and any possible crossovers that are otherwise invisible. And it surprises me not that the structure they used at BFC is similar to what they've rolled out elsewhere.
Ha ha yes....other differences of opinion I've had is: We can't loan players and benefit other teams. Believe in their long term plan and be patient Their transfer signings are not scattergun related At least we aren't Bury
I've not had a beer yet today, but reading all this leads me to believe that the HK investors, the unknown shareholders and all the other shady players means there is a tenuous link to Triad Gambling gangs. What odds would they get on a team on the brink of the PL to be relegated 12 months later? And how could they manipulate the outcome? It's the Triads, ah tell thee. Off ashore for a beer now, and later I'll move onto the realms of conspiracy
A consortium of shareholders bought Genoa @ Miami based 777 partners last October First thing they do sack the manager after nine games and activate a buy out clause of K V Oostende manger Alexander blessin on the advice of Paul Conway !!
That was just a conspiracy theory I think. Their owners just pulled the plug, citing that they had other priorities when Covid hit. They went into administration, despite the fact that they hadn't defaulted on a payment, and did it by appointing new directors to force it through against the wishes of the CEO and other directors that were overseeing the day to day running of the club. My fear has been since then, that any club could be forced into admin. We'll have a shortfall of cash, and the owners will not be the ones who are owed money. If they feel that they can't recover the money they paid for the club, and they have no desire to operate in the EFL any more, there's nothing stopping them doing the same to us.
A friend of mine emailed David Conn around the time of the West Stand closure. He hadn't heard back last time I asked but it's absolutely something right up Conn's street.
I suspect it would depend where the loose threads lead. I don't think there's a huge story just at Barnsley in itself. But then if you tie together their ownership of all of their clubs and their plights, the scandals, the disconnect, the financial opacity, some of the cross company dealings etc... maybe there is something that could be delved into.
The concerning thing is that if you look at all the clubs they have an interest in there's barely a single one where you'd think, ah, they could make some money there. Maybe us with a raffle ticket for the Premier League has been their best bet but the negligence they've shown here questions their motives in that respect. When you look at where they've bought and what they're doing it's very difficult to see a legitimate business strategy. And that's a worry.
