True, the owners have taken us backwards. There's no sign of any hands on hard work to get the club rolling again, there just going to continue going backwards because they no nothing about bringing a football club together and building a team, focus is on profitable players only.
The only thing I would add to that is that this disaster actually all started last season, albeit behind the scenes. Murphy's contract, ownership disputes and groundshare enquiries all show a club who's ownership had taken their eye off the ball.
Which was actually a better effort than the one he bottled against Reading before trying to deflect blame in his after match interviews.
I like many other fans have stopped away even though I have a season ticket. I have a friend who I sit with who actually got a refund for his. He couldn’t stand it anymore and the khaled comment about last seasons success was the final straw for him. Until this ownership starts to have a go at running a football club instead of playing at it, I’ll not be returning I’m afraid. There’s only so many times you can get lucky with another team going down due to point deductions.
Not sure I accept that age is always intrinsic to experience - look at Bellingham or Foden. They look like they’ve been playing for years. Obvious correlation between age and experience, though. And I agree with the thrust of that point. Many people pointed out the obvious fact - before the start of the season even - that replacing AM with Toddlers FC was always gonna be a disaster. And if they try the same next year in League 1, it will be the same result.
I’d say they have taken us backwards then forwards then slightly backwards then massively forwards then massively backwards
I know you're being tongue in cheek but I'd count last season as massively forwards if they'd built on it. They didn't. We're worse off than before last season happened. The first season we went down wasn't really their fault but we went down with cash in the bank. This time we don't. The club is now far worse off and they've squandered the lucky break they got with Ismael last year.
The fact that most of this team could quite conceivably have been in the Premier league this season doesn't bear thinking about
Didn't Dane Murphy leave in the summer, on expiry of his contract? That should've been addressed last season.
The ownership have no idea of why a club like ours has achieved a high level of league status for the vast majority of our 135 years of existence. I'll not go over the multiple failings of their tenure but use last night as an example. As I've posted we had 25th anniversary doo last night attended by 8-10 of the promotion squad and 4-5 messages from the manager and players who couldn't attend. We had a minutes applause for Eric and Rimmo. An after party with the players and an all round cracking night. The club 'were' going to have a 10 seater table and never got back to us. Only one club employee attended and did donate a couple of raffle prizes. My point been, it shouldn't be the fans job to organise such an event. Graced by player who arguably contributed to the most famous day of those 135 years. A group who secured another generation of lifelong supporters who many of which have stopped attending. It's a sad indictment of where we've unfortunately arrived. Such a shame.
Obviously based on results but realistically as a club that’s more or less how success is based , I suppose there’s an argument we’ve stagnated for 25 years
We've become a pathetic club who's losing its heart, if it weren't for fans doing the clubs job it wouldn't have a heart left. The leeches running it need to leave so the club can breathe again.
