Wish he could play test cricket that good. We'd be better off having him open in test matches and treat it like it's a T20 match. Better to hopefully be 70/2 after the first hour than 34/3 trying to play slow and sensible.
My concern is that this will “earn” him another summer of failure with the red ball team. He cannot play test cricket that much is clear.
Totally different game, many teams have tried to put a pinch hitter in test cricket, just doesn’t work long term… they might get a quick score here and there of course but the ball, field placings, bowling areas are all different.
