The problem is the ST is so slow to move on anything. You see other ST’s from other clubs swiftly reacting to major events. There should have been a statement and action plan ready to release as soon as we were relegated. That’s how you build momentum, strike whilst the fire is hot. By the time you’ve got round to it, it’s too late to have the desired impact. In short, to quote the bloke from the West Lower: ‘GERRON WI GAME’.
It would be good to know what the ST have done, achieved and are planning on doing. That’s not a criticism but a suggestion for clarity that the main supporters vehicle shares its approach to unite the fan base.
I mean this is factually incorrect in our defence. Maybe in this particular case given what you’d like to see, and I wouldn’t argue too much if that’s how you feel, but it’s simply false to suggest ‘on anything’ given how quickly we released something on Stendel’s departure, the closure of the West Stand, the threat to move from Oakwell. All immediate and in partnership with local press to get greater coverage.
Very possible. When I’m not running my own Trust Q and A on the BBS from my holiday in California and my first days off work in 2022.
It’s hard to throw criticism at the ST. They don’t speak for all of the fans, no-one does. But they are one group with a voice, but there are so many other voices that can also be heard. I guess it’s more about the platform and the collective and who, how more fans are represented together.
I'm not sure what the ST can reasonably be expected to do, bar making representations. (I say that with all due respect to the work they do). While the reports of the owner's wealth may have been exaggerated they are, nevertheless wealthy men. It can also be assumed they are on many views of the matter, successful businessmen. They have no pressing need to sell BFC at what would presently be a loss to them. Nor do they appear to want to invest any significant sums of money in an attempt to drive the club forward. What we are left with is in all likelihood a period in the doldrums while they wait to strike lucky with another head coach and/or one or more players who develop beyond expectations. We can expect players who increase in value to be sold at a profit, and can only hope that the gradual improvement will start at some point. But it feels very much like when I first watched the club in the late 60's/early 70's. Our big leaps forward came when we invested in hiring Alan Clarke in 1978 and subsequently, Viv Anderson and Danny Wilson in the period from 1993-98. I can foresee no such investment being made by the present owners, so the doldrums it is - waiting for this ownership group to strike lucky. It's not for me.
They can lead a boycott like was done at Blackpool. They can organise things like the protests at ASNancy. I do agree with Ben though that it will only work when enough of the fans are prepared to back it. Unfortunately the Conway out group went about things the wrong way and ended up with very few people prepared to do anything other than stay away or rant or start getting on at other fans It needs to be a collective effort and it all can't come from the ST as has been stated, they have other jobs lives too. But I suppose they could start the ball rolling.
I like these threads. How many of you criticising the ST are paying, active members? If you're not I'd start there.
I'm not so sure. I can see them blaming it on the economic situation, assuming fans will come back if we start to win a few games etc. ASNancy have left them in no doubt about their feelings.
Agree with all of that mate. When they first arrived they sold us a plan.......but it was too rigid. Their arrogance was they could make themselves profitable by buying and selling players fast. Trouble is.... not only is everyone else doing it but for various other reasons the economy has stuttered and other clubs don't have the dosh to buy.
I've joined on the free option. I'm willing to add the paying option when I'm convinced they are going to actively and publicly challenge the ownership. I'm hoping they are and that maybe this thread will nudge them to make their hard work more public. I think that's what has been missing. I think more people will flock to the banner if they see which way the army is marching.
Maybe a supporters trust banner with conway out on it! The other side could say “ we still love you though Kaleed”
Ben, as others have said, log off and enjoy your holiday. Any issues with the club will still be here when you return.
