People need to get real. There’s no chance we can compete with FGR. Have you seen how ambitious that Club is? Who’d swap that to come and work for Farce FC.

I understand Big Steve from Grimethorpe MW might be available?

We all know whilst this board is in charge, the head coach will always be an European choice because they’ll see the likes of Stendel and Ismael worked and overlook the other awful appointments.

For me, a wholesale change is required with the players and maybe giving some of the u23s a chance in a lower league could put Disco at the front of the queue ? Regarded highly with the club with his promotion to first team coach and will know who from the Academy can step up. Also, liked by the fans.

I can see why you and others may desire him as the new coach. I'm not convinced, I follow the fortunes of FGR and have done since Vince Hall went there. Some of my ancestors are from Nailsworth too.
Rob took over after Mark Cooper was the last man to almost get FGR promoted to Div 1and failed, having had a healthy lead. He's had a good season with a good squad but they have had a few issues too. It's a big leap to a club like Barnsley and how it works and the expectation, he is not that experienced really, but has a greater understanding of what is required, than this season's coaches.
FGR are at a transitional point in their history, will they become a fixture in the EFL or struggle. Vince Hall is selling his Energy business and wants to become a politician, he is doing a lot of media work too. What if he put the club for sale? FGR would return to non-league quickly, I feel.
Let's see how FGR and Rob Edwards do next season before we get carried away, I speak as a fan.
I always refer to the words of John Dennis, "choosing a manager is not an exact science ". There isn't even a vacancy at Barnsley yet, perhaps it would be better to leave him in post? He fits the club's supposed profile of using young players and developing them, not saying I agree with this but the board may.

I think with the drastic drop in revenue.. If Poya dose go, we'll go with Devaney. Give him a extra tenna a week on top of what he's on now.

But I would not discount our CEO coming out and backing Poya to the hilt..Him having his finger on the pluse and all that..

I don’t think Disco would necessarily take the first team coach job if he was offered it.
After all he’s been under 21 coach for a long time now and the one consistent thing about the first team coaches is that they don’t last for long, one way or another

In this book it claims that football managers/coaches and clubs fail because of two things, poor recruitment and poor team selection. This leads one to believe that good recruitment and the right team selection leads to success. The BFC recruitment policy on coaches and players needs to be reviewed. Initially recruiting the head coach and that coach must have an input/involvement in the recruitment process. You cannot imagine a craftsman undertaking a job where he is told you can't use the tools you want to do a good job but you have to use what we think you might need.
