It's because there are holes in the floor of the dugout so for safety reasons we have to get shut. Only joking, it's so we don't need as many stewards at the next home game
I don't buy that personally. The bulk of our squad was the same as last season. Schopp wrecked our playing style, but Poya still had plenty of time to get us out of trouble, or at least get us competing. The tactics and team selection were on him. The players also need to have a good look in the mirror. Their capitulation at key moments has been shameful.
Well at least the departing statement was done in a professional manner, unlike the 21 worded embarrassment we've witnessed previously from Conway I don't know about the improvement bit though...lol.... unless it was poyas idea about flatbreads
Ah well, feel sorry for Poya, he tried but ultimately failed, but the buck doesn't stop there, it goes WAY up, to the Interferers. "So baby Let's go 'round again Maybe we'll turn back the hands of time Let's go 'round again One more time Let's go 'round again Maybe we'll turn back the hands of time Let's go 'round again One more time (one more time) One more time (one more time)"
To be honest he might be a good coach but his game management skills were very poor , his team selections & substitutions had me scratching my head , I hope he goes on to do well in the game as I am sure at such a young age the experience he will have gained whilst here will be beneficial to him long term
I don't think it is a conspiracy theory is it? It's common sense that they've done it now rather than in a few weeks in order to sell as many tickets as they can. Would make absolutely no sense at all to keep him on and then sack him knowing that keeping him on stops people renewing
Although he has not been successful, I do have a bit of sympathy for him. The squad needed reinforcement on 1st January after Woodrow's injury. The lack of urgency in recruitment then must have had an impact. Even then we failed to recruit someone to back up Morris. Our relegation is as much down to bad recruitment as poor coaches. Poya didn't have much to work with, although someone with Championship experience may have played the hand dealt a bit better. At the end of the day our terrible start made the job very difficult. NB If you fail to learn the lessons of history you are likely to repeat its mistakes.
So why didn't they get shut before STs went on sale? People have been speculating for weeks that because of the clause, he would leave as soon as relegation was confirmed. For me that's no conspiracy theory. Its just confirming what most people suspected - and demanded, for weeks. What they should now be doing is extending the EB
Time will tell but I, amongst others, were prophesying this outcome last August. We went into a Championship season without a single midfielder up to the task. The only one who might have been was farmed out on loan. The least said about our forward options the better. Utterly negligent of Conway etc, and I doubt even Klopp could have made anything of it.
The last two appointments haven't just been poor, they've been incredibly poor. In my opinion, the worst whilst I've supported the club. Unfortunately, because of this, I do not have any confidence with those in charge that they'll get it right now. Good luck, Martin. I wish you well in the last three games.
Agree completely @JLWBigLil. Schopp was a gamble which failed. To then roll the dice and gamble again on Poya was a truly appalling decision. And on the basis of his recent comments, one that was made by Khaled. I'm sure it was ratified by the owners but the evidence suggests the process and decision was his. I too have no confidence in him to get the next one right. Another continental appointment would be a disaster. We simply cannot have another one with us just for 12 months and then leaving either because he's failed or because he's succeeded and gone somewhere else. Continental managers will only come to us as a stepping stone to something else, even more so now in League One. And after the inevitable departures this summer we desperately need someone to stay for a period and rebuild.
Spoken like a true fan. Sadly, I do not believe your valid aims of stability, followed by progression, are shared by the club's hierarchy.
As a club statement, re manager/coach departing goes that`s acceptable, and why it wasn`t ever thus makes the mind boggle.
100% agree. Seemed a decent bloke, and apparently was respected by the players. Maybe if he had come in last summer, he might have more of a chance. Schopp and the owners left us in such a mess prior, any manager would have struggled to run it around.
1 win from 3 makes him our best coach this season unless Disco can outdo him. Then he has the added responsibility of being the Head Coach`s bouncer. GoJoLo.
