Newport striker, League 2 top scorer so far this term. Out of contract at end of season. 25 yrs old so hitting his prime. Probably type of player we should be straight in for rather than picking up scraps at the end of the window.
Imagine he might attract Championship interest, someone like Rotherham if they go up? Or even high end L1 clubs, all of whom will have bigger budgets than us. This summer is when our predicament will really hit home.
We won't be able to sign a striker, even on a free, unless Morris or Woodrow have already been sold for cash and maybe one of Miller/Schmidt offloaded. By the time that happens Telford will be playing for a good team.
Miller and Victor are out of contract so we should have space to bring in a couple who bang them in for lower league teams like Cole Stockton and Keillor Dunn to replace them. Hopefully get shut of Cole, Aitchison, Thomas and Schmidt too. We should have plenty of options to freshen up the attacking options.
Aitchison has had a really good season for FGR. I would be doing everything I could to bring him back here and get him to sign a new contract. I think he would do a good job for us in L1 as a number 10.
You are spot on , he is very talented player who still has another year left on his contract & I am looking forward to see him playing for us next season
Having looked at his stats he's only scored 7 goals this season in FIFTY games as an attacking player for the best team in the league with 1 in his last 14 and ten without a goal. I reckon our attacking options we want to get shut of (Victor, Cole, Iseka etc) would have at least done as well if they had been at FGR this season.
As anyone watched him, other than looked at his stats? He's not very tall or mobile,I don't see him getting out of League 2.
He's obviously played a role in the best team in the league though, otherwise they wouldn't have kept picking him. How many assists does he have? Or chances created? Or key passes? Hasn't he been playing just behind a front 2 that both scored a hatful?
The BBS is funny. ‘Our recruitment needs to go back to signing the best players from the lower leagues. Those who play week in week out and can make the jump up’ But not someone who’s about to start 35+ games for the team that’s winning the League Two title. Carlton Morris had terrible stats by the way. And a good percentage of supporters criticised that signing at the time.
Aitchinson and kane are the sort of players we want to be getting back and ready for next season and possibly luke thomas. Best thing for schmidt is offload him playing in a poor league this season and hardly done much.
He's scored 18 league goals in 70 appearances in league 2 mate. Yeah he's had a decent season this year - I wouldn't be against it, but he certainly wouldnt be first on my list however
Ir for them to leave and get another club in league one or two and score a load would be even more bfc
Already being linked with Port Vale and they have a good chance of going up. Haven’t seen the lad play to be fair.
