In L1 next season still confident after that dire performance?

If we get rid of the entire squad and replace it with players who have a few vertebrae between them then we may not finish bottom.

Yes. Because they’ll be almost zero similarities between what was in the dugout, and what was on the pitch, for next season.

The players have needed calling out for months, but it’s only recently they’ve started getting it both barrels from supporters. However, and it’s no excuse, but some of these players look destroyed. The drop to League One and the Summer break, plus coming back to a coaching team with a plan supported by recruitment in the right positions/areas, will see us look very different from tonight.

Looking at the state we’re in at the minute, I think the main goal for next season right now has to be avoiding back-to-back relegations. It’s looking like a real possibility unless something changes quickly. To be honest, everyone’s pointing fingers at the owners, but I also have zero confidence in this CEO! It’s a complete and utter **** show!

We've got to get the recruitment right. None of this 3rd choice from the spreadsheet excuses. Hanging on for players who go to the highest bidder. Usually not us.
We need a manager not a head coach. One who is given support, and freedom to bring in some of his choices. not " here's yer lot, get on with it"

Agree on the recruitment being key. We’ve got the right amount of time to get this appointment right.

Who sits in the dugout, as we saw with Val, can have a lasting impression on players and change their fortunes. That’s why tonight offers very little relevance to next season in my mind.

So suddenly the recruitment team is going to recruit players we actually need rather than ones we hope to be able to sell at a profit and the board / CEO are going to recruit another DS or VI instead of another MS or PA. Forgive me if I don't share your faith in Conway and co to get anything right they got lucky twice with head coaches but I think the lucks run out.

was listening to Rio Ferdinand and he was talking about how the coach sets the culture at the club.

Recruitment and pre-season are the other two big indicators to a good season.

We need a culture reset at Oakwell. The players are on an easy street.
We didn't have a head coach in November, was it? Yet the captain decided to have a week in Paris. Amazing Cauley.

Recruitment with no money though so don’t expect much. If this lot don’t change their ‘plan’ then we are truly in the mire, even a level down.
We desperately need some old heads down the spine of the side. Some leaders, that’s where our priority should be. All with no money though, that’ll be the problem.

You don’t have to share faith, optimism, or thought process. That’s what we have opinions for, but it’s funny how you so often come on here and try and call out your fellow supporters who don’t think the same.

Our recruitment hasn’t been any better or worse over the last five years vs. the five years before. I’m fact I’d say it might have even been better depending if you stretch back to the Mawson/Roberts season for comparisons. But the recruitment team weren’t signing players in the Summer were they?

They got lucky when they got it right but were inept when they got it wrong? I’m with you now.

Minimal, if any, money is spent in League One on transfers. Our wage budget will be competitive for this league and we’ll sign some decent players.

I think our planning and prep this Summer vs. last season will be night and day.

Who gets the top job is the critical though. They’ll be interest, because we’re a great club to work for/job to have. I’d like it if James’ algorithm is identifying our target for the job rather than waiting for applicants - like Stendel and Struber.

Check the accounts though loko this lot will be running out of money very shortly in a matter of months they haven’t got a pot to p*ss in. Even after the summer fire sale and they get rid of everything they can this still will not be enough to balance the books. Get used to the tumbleweeds blowing around the rotting stadium because fans will vote with their feet again this will add to the financial stress next season.

Admin looms under this lot and the club is in the sh*te big style.l financially and on the pitch also.

I am surprised the club paid for x 3 sets of flowers for the half time lap of honour for the three loan players. Jesus wept

I think we’ll be fine on that front. Definite cut backs, but you’d want an overhaul after such an appalling season anyway. I don’t get why you’d critique the season as being one of the worst in 50 years, slate all the players, and then complain that we’ll be selling most of them.

We will sell anything that isn’t nailed down. I’m not complaining about the fire sale they need to do it to stay afloat and bide some time. Look at their business model loko and the account figures. The cupboard will be bare in a few months time and we are ran by so called billionaires who can’t even be arsed to talk to the fans let alone invest a dime in the club. They are not bothered at all and will used the ceo as a deflection tactic.

Its like they are the opposite of king Midas everything relating to the football clubs that they own have all turned to sh*te and are all on their arses.

I am fine with worst seasons in fifty years it’s the owners I cannot stand they disgust me.

love the club love the town and the community but despise PMG

I think it was this Summer. I don’t think it has been all the time in the last 4/5 years

Perfectly valid viewpoint. Wouldn’t go against it or say that you’re wrong.

But this ‘we’ll sell anything that isn’t nailed down’ line has been used every transfer window for the last three years. It’s about time it actually happened and came to fruition.

Whose stopping Conway sticking his nose into things this Summer like he did last. Lees too busy with the problems at his new toy in France the CEO is too much of a yes man to stand up to Conway. I think the move last summer to sideline Cryne juniors involvement in recruitment wasn't by accident I think it was political and will continue and Conway's ego will make him want to prove everybody who blames him wrong.
