Just a bit of fun. Obviously aside from wishing for new owners and a new manager who can get the lads going, which players would you like to see at Oakwell (realistic...no Mbappe or Messi type replies) next season. I think the following would be decent acquisitions: Cameron Brannagan - arguably Oxford United's talisman. Combative, experienced (even though only 25), creative and would be exactly what we need. I'd love to see him at Oakwell next season. Charles Vernam (winger/attacker) - had a good season in a struggling Bradford City side and his contract is up this summer. Charlie Goode (loan) - hasn't exactly shone since moving to Brentford from Northampton and a stuttering loan spell with Sheffield Utd, but could be a very good signing at this level for a player wanting games and wanting to prove his worth. Matty Stevens - one of the main reasons Forest Green Rovers won promotion with his goalscoring prowess. Probably will be a few teams looking at him with his contract up this Summer. Kabongo Tshimanga - even though he's never really had much of a shot outside of the non league ladder, he's now 24 and has had a few years of banging in goals left, right and centre. Will undoubtedly be attracting a lot of interest, but I see no reason why we couldn't make a statement of intent with a signing like him - could be very shrewd indeed. Wildcard: - Troy Parrot - spent this season with MK Don's on loan from Spurs and has been tremendous. Would be only better for his experience this season but I'd be guessing Tottenham may want him to experience some Championship level football.
Not a chance on Brannagan or Parrot. Both will likely be playing in Championship next season. Others sound interesting though, not that I know much about them.
Tyreece Simpson - young powerful striker similar in stature to Dike. Available for transfer from Ipswich. Jordan Storey - been on loan with owls this season, if they mess up in playoffs worth a bid to Preston Cohen Brammall - great attacking left wing back that would nicely replace Styles Cole Stockton - bags of goals for a poor Morecambe team.
Matty Longstaff - Newcastle - Centre Mid - Out of Contract - 22 - played a dozen Premier League games and scoring regularly out on loan at Mansfield. Anthony Scully - Lincoln - Right Wing/Forward - 1 year left - 23 - scored 15+ goals in all competitions for the last 2 seasons. Previously linked with us in November. Kane Wilson - Forest Green - Right Wing Back - Out of Contract - 22 - 13 assists this season and nominated for league 2 team of the season. Jamie Cumming - Chelsea - Goalkeeper - Out of Contract - 22 - Recalled from loan at Gillingham after impressing, to be sent to MK Dons where he has kept 9 clean sheets in 21 appearances. Jack Rudoni - Wimbledon - Midfielder - 1 year left - 20 - 17 goals and assists from midfield. Wimbledon were wanting a million for him in January. Kabongo Tshimanga - Chesterfield - Striker - 2 years left - 24 - prolific goalscorer and vastly experienced, albeit mainly in non league football. Missed the last 3 months through injury.
I wish players would just show some commitment or some bottle. I can put up with losing and relegation. What I can't put up with is players not giving a t*ss
Again, just this season. He isn't all that. Besides this season, he scored 18 league goals in 70 appearances in league 2 the previous two seasons, and before that, never got more than 5 league goals in L2/conference league. I wouldn't be against getting him if he's cheap, or on a free. But if we're hanging our hats on this guy, like a lot of this board seems to be due to this season, i'd be very worried for us! Hasn't impressed when watching either - not for me. Wouldn't be against any of your other picks though.
Scott Twine - MK Dons, 22 yrs old. Forward 46 games, 22 goals, 13 assists this season. Made L1 TOTS Probably and most likely out of our price range. Come to think of it, why would he want to come to us anyway
I think to buy any players we need to get good money to offset the 6million pound loss from relegation, mason holgate or pinnock get sold or we shift a load of season tickets which seems unlikely given everyone if fed up. Only signings i think will be free transfers in a stabilising mission next season.
Can't believe MK Dons got him from Swindon tbf. Thought he'd make the jump straight to championship, he's a quality player. Gutted we didn't. They'll be making a very, very tidy profit off him
Similar type of situation with Bradley Dack a few years ago whilst he was at Gillingham. It's a massive shame Dack has had the injuries he's had because he looked fantastic too. Still a brilliant footballer, but definitely injuries have impacted him
