I don't have much of a choice but to have a dependency on petrol. I'll probably buy an electric car as my next vehicle if that makes any difference but until then the fact that I have to rely on vehicular transport to get to work doesn't preclude me from having an opinion on dodgy states. It's like saying you can't decry Putin if your home is gas heated, it's ******* nonsense.
Not being facetious mate, but what would you do if Man City owners took over us? And we had their success? Genuine question btw, not being a tw @t
the old you live in the world so can’t criticise the way it’s run argument. As tired and empty as it always was.
They're worse of now than before Ronaldo joined. He's scored a couple of winning goals, and made the difference in a number of league games, but overall I think he's been a part of the problem. It's like playing with 10 men, sometimes 9 when you include Fernandes, especially when not having possession. I really can't see him fitting in whilst Ten Haag takes place there - unless they magically play like City where they just creature easy chance after easy chance. I'd go as far as saying even Ibrahimovic worked out better when he was there.
If we become big money merchants like city it will kill our true support and DNA. I can go to oakwell enjoy a few beers and roam free and interact with people I know. If we became a city I would come across a weirdo who wants a photo of each ******* turnstile in the ground. . Fk that. Times are bad at the well though
Well in the words that you describe City fans, you yourself are "happy to ride roughshod over human rights" so long as you have a tank full of petrol. You have a choice. We all do. e.g. like being a vegetarian. I don't mind your opinion on dodgy states. It's when it seeps into criticising your bog standard football supporter that it annoys me. Leave them out of it.
Being a vegetarian is nothing like never using petrol, and you know it. I'm not happy to use petrol, I just have no viable alternative. Also he's not a reluctant participant, his words were "long may the ‘sportswashing’ continue"
I like to see City lose because of their dodgy sportswashing, but then I also know that whatever team beats them these days probably has equally dodgy owners. To be honest I just wish all football was amateur like Gaelic sports. In it for the badge and the love of it, even if the badge isn’t fashionable. We’d all enjoy it more.
Serious question this, but are the City and Newcastle owners actually using the clubs to "sportswash"? The reason I ask this is, I know what sportswashing is and why they do it, but what benefit do the regimes of Saudi Arabia and the UAE gain from owning the clubs? I get the argument when it comes to spunking a load of money up the wall for the World Cup, a Grand Prix, Boxing match and even the WWE shows, as it gets eyes on the country and shows them in a "good" light. But barring them using the clubs as a status symbol and something to brag about, I can't see how owning them is having a positive effect on their image to thise looking in from the outside. They seem more like a plaything to them, to me(now the potential money laundering is another argument). Also, if anything I'd say this new sportswashing phenomenon has worked the other way. Look at Qatar for example. I'm willing to bet a good percentage of people in the world had absolutely no idea where it was, if it was a country or a city/state, or what went on within its borders. They certainly do now they have the upcoming world cup!
