Lads doing fantastic since he left us. Always underrated and under appreciated when he was with us. Just won player of the year and signed a new contract. https://www.stokecityfc.com/news/2022/may/07/new-deal-for-jacob/
He did well with us too. Fair play to him, he got a lot of stick from the Stoke fans but he's grafted and improved, still more to come I reckon. Well done Browny, will always remember Walsall!
to quote someone I work with ‘the worst player ever to play for Barnsley.’ Though Palmer has now taken that title in his world.
Fair play to the lad. I wasn't one of his biggest fans and thought he was average at best. Shows I know as much about players as I do managers lol. (Thought Spackman would do well)
He was my player of the season in that first season back at this level. Particularly pre lockdown, when Chaplin and Woodrow were regularly scoring, it often went unnoticed how much Brown created. Arguably the most underrated player this century for us.
I think a lot of people often focused on the number of chances he missed, rather than the number he created for others.
Always baffled me the stick he used to take. He was the one player who grafted for the whole game no matter what, he was the one player who competed in the air up front as well. The fact he is also a very good footballer, unselfish, constantly threatening and creating for others, he was some player for us and was just a kid. Some folk, I’d argue the more myopic of our fans, could only see the chances he didn’t always take - he was only bloody 22 when he left. He’s clearly continued to improve since then too. Only have good wishes for the lad to be honest.
I was at the game at Scunny when he came on and made his debut. Was excellent that day and thought he was a great player for us. Not surprised to see him doing well.
Very much divided opinion. We wouldnt have got promoted under stendel without him filled in for brad potts great after these clowns sold potts in the middle of a promotion season.
Jacob is one of the best players to play for Barnsley in modern times. Great energy, knew how to stretch the play, create chances, brave, great attitude. The fact that even now people critcise him, is bonkers,I wouldn't be surprised if he moved to a bigger club this summer. He,Mason Holgate and Conor Hourihane, are my favourite 3 players of the last decade.
Anybody remember these owners stating after the sales of Lindsay,Pinnock, Moore and Brown "we still hold a interest in the player" because it just shows how crap a set of business men these lot must be as 3 of those players are now internationals and there was no clause in the selling contract not to mention Pinnock also being in the Premier league with Brentford.
