Brilliant day. Dream come true for me scoring a volley across the keeper and into the top corner at the Ponty end, literally stuff of dreams Wish it had been caught on film, my mrs just got the end of it lol. I had Devaney and Austin on my team. Just a shame Nardiello didn’t make it, but apart from that it was a great day in lovely weather.
Club scouts will have been watching to see how we can strengthen our squad for next season by playing a few lads who care about what happens to our club.
I played on Devaney and Austin team too. I now feel like I’ve been shot in both legs! Only second game I’ve played in 12 years since doing ACL but today it was a dream come true and I loved every minute.
I know the lad who was in the nets. His missus was there. I'll message her to see she recorded it. Leave it with me. PS I'm guessing it was that dipping volley in front of West Stand into Ponty End nets?!? Let me know. If so I doff my flat cap Sir !
I scored at the away end side a few years ago in a friendly. I didn’t know what to do. I was completely stunned that I had achieved a boyhood dream. It was only after I thought about it that I realised I should have done a Hammil slide into the corner flag! Well done mate, it’ll be with you forever. Thanks for reviving my memories of the occasion.
I did wonder if any of the current squad of players made an effort to turn up and meet the legends and our suffering fans.
I've got my penalty on video (I may share later), and I'd planned a goal celebration for the unlikely event that I scored. In the end I jogged along the Ponte, shouted come on, did a little jump and fist pump thing. Then I remembered I'd told my Mrs that I'd do a Cheryl Cole fight for this love shoulder bob. So I did that too!
I didn't see Khaled if he was indeed there. Martin Devaney captained a team, and Joe Laumann played for Disco's team in the first game. I think this was to make up for Bruce Dyer drafting in a couple of academy coaches last minute.
So you can bet Khaled wasn't there then, that's a shock. Seems to have gone mute again all of a sudden.
