    "The club are listening"

Give over loko. They're just paying lip service to you and you're swallowing up every word they say.

If those at the club were listening then they'd also be talking but there is absolute radio silence. The communications director is silent. The CEO is silent. Everyone is silent.

They are not listening at all. They might pretend they're listening to you to keep you sweet but they really aren't and haven't been all season

I thought they were all incommunicative except for Khaled El-Ahmad?

He's only communicative when it suits in order to get people on his side and by God it's worked. Puts on a smile, sucks up to the trust whilst actually failing to answer anything at all and apparently he's the best thing since sliced bread.

In reality he's took everyone for mugs with lies and contradictions regarding the west stand, a refusal to explain, lies and radio silence on vouchers and now we've gone down without a whimper and he's forgotten how to speak or type. But yeah other than that he's reallyyyyyy communicative and listens to fans

I'm not going to get involved in this thread given the replies so far. I was just sharing because it's something that might interest supporters. But this was filmed to deliberately talk about the updates put out from the Trust in the same week.

Those updates included going out to the biggest representation of the fan base that we can find, to link a survey back to some fans being very vocal about wanting a change of ownership. We quoted something Paul Conway said back in August 2021, so naturally the conversation went that way. The silence from the owners is more hard pressing than mistakes made by a CEO who has done the press tour recently and held a Q&A.

Also mentioned in this brief filming was how we questioned the club (CEO) publicly when the West Stand was closed and challenged everyone at the football club after the pathetic performance away at Nottingham Forest. The CEO also accepted our request for a meeting a few days ago, which is surely a positive given current silence from the club? Whilst there might not have been criticism of the CEO because the conversation didn't warrant it, the biggest positive is that we think he's listening (which is hardly a glowing reference).

Is he listening to the 20,000 Barnsley fans, the 10,000 or so season ticket holders, the probably 6,000 season ticket holders he's lost or is he just talking to Ben from the supporters trust? It very much appears to be the latter and so surely you have to ask why that is. It can't be in order to find out what supporters think because he has eyes and presumably he knows how to use the internet. It can't be in or to get an accurate message out to the fans because he has access to the club's website, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, tiktok etc along with access to go live on radio Sheffield, put out a statement in the chronicle, talk to the Yorkshire post etc. So why is it that he's only willing to talk to Ben?

Remember it's a lot easier to fool one person and convince them that you care than it is to pull the wool over the eyes of many. When that one person has unrivaled influence over other supporters too I know where I'd be focusing my lies and deceit towards

Given he spoke to all the media recently and held a free to attend Q&A for all supporters, no he isn't.

He also didn't speak to just me. He spoke to the Supporters' Trust. At our request. To point out issues and challenging facing the club over the coming months. But you want to try and paint this as a bad thing? I don't have the energy to be honest. I'm checking out of this one.

The views of the fans aren't represented on here Supertyke or twitter even. This place is an extreme place.
We had someone the other day again on here saying we think this, and we think that. In reality at WBA in the away end about 50 of the 600 fans said Conway our for less than 30 seconds and then shut up. The Supporters Trust, the CEO can't just respond back to me and you who are the 1%er.

Okay I just watched and my takeaway would be this.

Like it or not the Supporters Trust is the official/semi official representative of the fans. The fact that Ben mentioned there were only 1000 members is really disappointing and that's not a criticism of the Trust particularly. We're at a point where many of us feel the club is facing a real crisis yet nobody can be arsed to even join when it's free. And I include myself in that, I only joined a few weeks ago. If we want Supporters organisations to have any sort of real clout with the owners they need to be backed up by numbers. Ben was saying there'd been 350 responses to the survey. To be quite honest walking into Khaled's office with demands based on that sort of response is likely to make him think he's got a licence to do what he wants because we, as fans, clearly don't care that much.
So....for God's sake, even if you aren't on the same page as the Trust, join it, fill in the survey, give them some ammunition and, if you don't like their approach after that, vote in someone who you do want.
The other point I want to pick up on is the "if we're winning we're all happy" line. We're not. At least those who can see beyond our noses.
Winning doesn't affect a reduction in finances, attempts to ground share, exodus of staff, money being dubiously used to pay off the owners' debts, alienation and mistreatment of fans especially those in the West Stand.
If we'd finished in the top half of the table this season those factors would still have been very much front and centre in many people's minds.
For pity's sake stop being apathetic. The owners love it.

    As per usual :D:D

Where is Khaled's statement to the fans then? I haven't seen it? Where is he listening to requests for a statement? Not seen that. I have seen him listen to you though, you really do get a lot of access to him. It's easier to convince you he's a good guy who tells the truth than it is to convince everyone. That's all I'm saying.

It isn't a criticism of you, it's one of him

Too thick to realise that most people who want Conway out wouldn't be going to wba away in the first place

I'm glad you've posted that. That very much echoes my thoughts too.

I'm surprised there are only 1,000 members too, and sadly, I think you're spot on with the sentiment our CEO may have given the volume of response. He could quite easily turn around and suggest it equates to around 1.5% of people on the clubs databases.

It's a start, and a welcome one. But it perhaps also demonstrates the apathy among the fan base given our 2nd worst season ever.

The best message to the clubs is always from the away end. It's the most passionate fans that are in that section every week.

At games, I often speak to different types of people and try and see what they think. It's very different from online.

Huddersfield away, I would imagine the club would have noticed that Poya was done after Huddersfield away. There was a loud song and a message to him and the CEO.

That never happened to the owners this season. The loudest it ever was. Charlton away 2020.

    Twice in five months?
Did I really say 1,000 members? Haven't watched it back. That's less than the number I posted on here a few weeks ago (someone might be able to find it but think it was 2,500). it was filmed live and after work in my defence.

If you take the actual number of members it represents over 25% of our adult season ticket sales. I don't think that's bad going but the higher the better.

Tbf @SuperTyke the recent Q&A was open to everyone. My daughter came with me and she doesn't even have a season ticket. I think @churtonred is spot on, it's free to join the supporters trust so join We need to be united, not slagging each other off.

I'm a member, have been for years. I just think praising him as someone who listens is absolving him of blame when he doesn't listen at all. He pays lip service but doesn't listen. If he did listen he'd actually do something

It wasn't pure unadulterated praise. Please don't type things that are misrepresentative of what was said. I never said he listens to fans, I said we felt like we had been listened to in that particular meeting, as that was the question.

Yes, you did say around 1,000 members. Which is why I was a little surprised as I think you inferred circa 3,000 when I asked a while back after you'd done the Q&A.

If the membership is around 2,500, 350 responses is only a 14% response rate. It's not having a go by the way. I agree the more the better in terms of membership and responses. Sadly, I can also see a senior managements position of downplaying the numbers when compared to their databases (partly, because I've experienced that myself on some projects which have been around 40-50% response), especially if the news is negative and unwanted. I'd expect circa 20,000 to 25,000 in their lists given what we've taken to Wembley in recent times.
