Middlesbrough top the list with 2,260. We were 23/24 in the list with an average of 860.... https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/news/20128511.reading-fc-away-crowds-rise-fourth-straight-year/ That's a good average for us when you look at what those who travel to away games have been watching.
https://www.shropshirestar.com/spor...bury-town-3-barnsley-1---report-and-pictures/ That was our only three figure away following the last time we were in League 1 when they were 852 of us there to watch a really poor performance so yes you are right
Our averages over the last few year pre covid were approx 1250 so we've dropped a boat load of away fans
1 away win all season, horrific football, no heart or desire from the team, I think an average of 830 odd is great in the circumstances.
First few of the season including Bournemouth, QPR etc were excellent for long trips. Then the 'rot' began to set for a lot post COVID and folk weren't getting value for money watching what ended up been 1 away victory all season. I missed 3 in total and in a good few (like WBA) I didn't see a ball kicked. Just treat it as a day/weekend out in a lot of cases.
An odd comparison of home and away support in the sense that the away figures are likely to be very accurate and the home ones are wildly inaccurate! Football in 2022. As for us - shocking but expected. I attended 4 away games which was 4 higher than the previous season but my lowest total since 1977/78.
