Hes been talking to them without FGR knowing. There chairman just been on SSN and said he dont feel hes there manager anymore
Just heard Chairman a few seconds ago on Talksport. No approach to FGR from Watford. Edwards advised by them and his agent to keep it a secret. It's FGRs end of season party later today! Sneaky stuff that from the Hornets!
I hope he flops at Watford and no other club touch him afterwards. Very snakey of him to go about it like this. It doesn't show him at all in a good light. All he would have had to do would be to go to his chairman that Watford want him and he wants to leave. The chairman then I am sure would have wished him the best for getting them promoted, thank him for being honest and then not stand in his way of coaching at a higher level with a far better salary.
Yes poor from Edwards, Pretty decent from FGR Chairman though still wishing him well and thanking him for getting promotion. Id say Edwards is taking a big risk wonder if he will last any longer than Val did at WBA
FGR almost threw promotion away after being miles ahead, last 20 games a record of W6, D8, L6, hardly inspiring. L2 to PL wannabees, I'll give him 10 games.
Wow. Absolutely I was with the Forest Green Rovers team only a few days ago and it was all systems go for next season. Their Director of Football just turned down the Pompey job for more money as well, as he believed in the project under Rob Edwards. Their form dipped toward the end of the season but a couple of key injuries and keeping up that form was arguably not sustainable. Interested to see who they appoint. Shame after all the positivity the last week or two.
Hope he lasts two minutes at Watford. Although he won’t care financially if it all goes wrong. Not good for your reputation to behave in this way.
"Rob had a contractual provision allowing him to leave Forest Green Rovers at any time to discuss employment opportunities at other clubs and the Hornets are delighted to confirm our discussions concluded today." It's horrible what he's done, but I suppose he's technically not done anything wrong... All I can say though is, when the fans & club officials love you... why would you not do it the 'nice' way? I mean it's not like they could stop him? Horrible move for him tbf, other than his bank balance... Never liked the guy anyway.
Seems a big stepped change from Watford to me. Normally try to appoint some one of bigger standing (and cost more) are they slashing costs too.
Alternatively, with the squad they have, they should be straight up with any half competent manager. Meaning he'll be nice & cheap to replace when he loses 2 games in a row back in prem...
Having a contract that allows you to leave to discuss other employment opportunities is likely very different to having conversations behind closed doors and just walking out. Would still require the proper process of approach, grant permission, etc.
