Well that's wonderful then. Let's all whoop and holler that someone who's husband (who we've never heard of) might possibly be in charge of how things turn out at the Well.

So, after all this, Conway wasn’t the problem after all then? Khaled is actually ‘the investors’ puppet, not Conway/Lee’s?

I think it's more a case of whooping and hollering that someone has left, and that our chances of dealing with the shitshow that's left behind have improved dramatically as a result.

Embrace the change. But still be prepared for a bumpy ride along the way to recovery.

She's therefore a nominee. No question of ownership.
Mmm ..... is this a change of ownership - yes or no?

I’d say it was potentially limited, personally. IMO the questions were somewhat loaded to dissent against Conway/Lee, totally understandably, and I wouldn’t be surprised if many of the verbatim comments reflected that. Mine certainly did. If that’s a pattern, then I’m not sure how much has been achieved. They’ve gone now, and I’m assuming the survey responses didn’t directly influence that?

I guess another way to put it, if BFCST knew this change was coming, and I’m not saying they did, I would have held off on the survey. I suspect the questions and responses might have also been very different.

There’s clearly a shed load of new & different questions that people now have. For me, just carrying on ‘as we were’…or even being perceived to be, would be a huge own goal. The Club should be all over this now. Massive fan engagement drive now needed IMO.

If conway was just a front for some investors was he doing as the investors were asking ? If so, what’s going to change ? If not then they maybe change . All I know is today’s announcement as added to the many unanswered questions we all want to know .

I thought the same thing, he was co-chair with Chien, representing less then 1/4 of the business owners but seems to have been left in charge to really screw it up.
Surely he would have been operating under instruction from the owners, as they don’t appear to have changed, what’s going to be different?

Depends how you look at it. We were criticised for not demanding an ownership change, but we didn't have a mandate from the supporter base to do that. When explaining to our members our actions, one stat could be that 6 in 10 BFCST members didn't support an ownership change (made up stat).

We aware of some discussions, without knowing the exact details, but it wasn't something that could be confirmed as happening on a specific date so we had to carry on as normal. That's why we thanked the current directors in our statement for keeping the lines of communication open over the last six months.

You're trying to pin me down when I'm just speaking openly. She hasn't got shares, her husband likely has, but she has all the authority of someone who has them all (in terms of her investors). I never said she wasn't a nominee. I've repeated that she's a nominee a million times today.

I don't think it's a change of ownership. Given it's likely that 60-70% of the shares remain unchanged.

Well forgive me if I'm not comforted by our ownership remaining in the hands of some obscure opaque foreign company.

I'd prefer Mike Ashley. At least you'd have a target.

I'm optimistic. Jean, James and Neerav are first class. Khaled and Robert Zuk, I feel, will try and try and come up good. Julie Anne is positive, smart and unfazed and has no real expeience of our world. She is liked and trusted by the 'investors' to watch over their asset and that is fair enough. Maybe Julie Anne will bring in some new ideas.
    I feel good about this.

    Why wouldn't I?

Do we not want a successful team? with a bit of money chucked at it?

Maybe I called it wrong. Assumed you were joking. Awful man who I wouldn't want anywhere near the football club.

He didn't bring more success to Newcastle than we've had here. Fairly similar struggles to be honest. Tight on the investment as well.

Rob Zuk's Barnsley through and through. Only hear good things about him from staff at the club.

Exactly the right type of bloke for us - if we could find one round here.

We aren't tight on scruples, until maybe we eventually find who really owns us.

We know who owns 70-80% of us. Just a final piece of the jigsaw is a bit hazy

Today is a good day in the history of Barnsley Football Club. Paul Conway is no longer involved in decision making at any level. Chien Lee was never really around anyway. There are good people at the club, always have been, and now we can rebuild and restore some pride. You reds!

Let me give my take on limited information and look to be stand corrected by those involved in the deal.

If Paul Conway has been removed as nominee for a group of investors that solves an immediate problem of the fans ire and helps the club deal with the immediate fan issues.

However, Paul Conway would not have been acting in isolation. Nominated directors typically take their lead from their shareholders who they represent. Unless those shareholders have changed their views massively then their representative will continue in the same vein.

Until there is more clarity on what has happened and what changes are expected then I can only hope things will improve.

You can be very cynical in that Conway is the bogey man and the expectation is that his removal will bring a sea change in approach. Only time will tell.

Well it would explain why we were heading for financial ruin. :)
