A few of his defensive shots need work I think, before he's ready for Englamd but no harm in giving him a chance while he's in the form of his life.

It pains me to say it, but they/Lancy town look like a good team this season, and could well end up Champions.
As for us, thats 1 win and 4 successive draws now, not good enough if we want to keep up with the top 2.

The captain was too negative in a couple of recent games when he should have been more positive in going for the win. Yorkshire definitely won't win the County Championship title this year.
I like the look of the Lancashire leg spinner Parkinson.

His first class average and economy rate suggest he should be getting a call up soon. Suspect he’ll be the second spinner on the next sub-continent tour.

His lack of variations were a bit of an issue in previous years, because he was quite ineffective against left handers, but that seems to be coming.

I think Lancs would’ve been much closer to forcing a result had Hassan Ali played.

Problem is they never get to play a full strength side. If everyone was available you could put out a second 11 with players who didn't play against Lancashire that could include Kadmore, Balance, Wiley, Bairstow, Coad, Fraine, Revis, Leech and Fisher.

The thing with leg spinners is that it's such a difficult craft to learn and bowl consistently well that sometimes they can try too much too soon. He looks to have fairly good control and if he's got a decent stock delivery then now he can start adding the variations to supplement that....So I expect to see a googly, flipper, slider, top spinner etc :D

Its one of the things that bugs me about our players doing well, and playing for England.
The county team suffers then through their absence.

Agree - it's a real fault line in the way the hyper-incompetent ECB runs cricket.

Can you imagine the Premier League going to a Liverpool and telling them the more players they produce for the national team the less they'll get to have those players available for their club?

Counties are almost incentivised to produce middling players who aren't quite good enough for international cricket so they won't get called up and the counties can keep control of them :D

Seem to be a bit light on the bowling/ attacking front, we are getting the scores but having a lot of trouble knocking over the opposition , mebbe the pitches have been a bit benign so far?

Absolutely. If he's mastered his leggie, the rest will follow. I just hope there's less talk about the pace he bowls at, which seemed to be what commentators would fixate on when he played in white ball games.

Just a shame that he's still only played 30 odd first class games. Means he's not had the experience to work on the tactical side, and plans for getting batters out on different wickets, which I think is important for a spinner. The number of games being played on green seamers in April in previous seasons hasn't helped with that, but at times in that period, Lancs have used Liam Livingstone as the main spinner which is a bit of a shocker.

Been a very dry April and that has resulted in very good pitches up and down the country so batters have made hay as most county attacks are made up of bowlers who are used to friendly conditions and have very little else in their armoury. Yorkshire's problem has been compounded by Coad, Fisher (as per) and Rauf being unavailable for some or all of the games and, certainly on the couple of days I've watched, some absolutely p!ss poor catching behind the stumps and in the slips.

Malan will be a big miss. Hope that they play Fraine and he takes his chance.

It’s Rauf’s last county game and I think he leaves us in a couple of weeks after a few T20’s.
Let’s hope we’ve a few of our bowlers back for the next bout of championship games.

Also, Kohler-Cadmore is back in training and Willey will be back from India soon

Bowling first as we lost the toss and no Rauf :( The bowlers need to finally step up as they keep letting the batting down.

Very easy to look at the scores and blame what is basically a reserve bowling attack but in the sessions I've watched by far the biggest thing letting us down is the catching. Compton was dropped three times in his 93 for Kent for example.

So far this morning Yorkshire's makeshift seam attack have had the reigning champions 28-2 and then seen both of the new men in dropped. And both drops, without exaggeration, were appalling - to call either a dolly would be assigning it a degree of difficulty far beyond its merit. Lyth (yet again) and Fraine the culprits. Can't understand why Gibson hasn't banned Lyth from the slips.
