I fancied that one in orange for the kids team's away shirt. It's my favourite of the three as well.

I like the top one. It's blood red and plain. That's what I like, but I know most people don't. They like a bit of fancy on it. They probably like trinkets, plates with Princess Dianna on, ceramic dogs and glass display cabinets full of thimbles too.

I love the preorder option for season ticket holders to save money but can’t actually see what the kit looks like yet and have to order before 31/05 to get the discount so presumably it’s got to be announced before that, but then this is Barnsley fc.

You don't have a rack of decorative spoons from every town you've ever visited then?
I prefer the home shirt to be be mostly red. Don't mind a bit of accenting. I prefer the away shirt to be mostly white. But then we now have to have a third strip and I think if you're going to mess about with one and make it fancy, do it with that one. Are we due a blue and black striped one this year?

A home shirt that's predominantly red.

An away shirt that's predominantly black (as a nod to the towns heritage).

Change them in alternating years and try and do away with a third kit.

Pretty sure the colours are a clue.

And I don't think the kits were out last year when folk got a cheaper-than-usual shirt with their season ticket.

We have until 31st of May to use the £8 discount on replica shirts, so surely in the next fortnight we will get to see all the kits unless that offer is going to be extended. They can't really expect people to use a discount on something when they don't know what the kits all look like.

Looks like we might be happy then.
Red home, black away, white third (with what appears to be an oak leaf motif which I guess gives us a little link back to Oakwell.

I’ve seen some possible concepts with the home shirt being red with a darker red stripe down it. And the away kits being white shirt blue shorts. And black shirt black shorts with yellow beading.

People paid the extra £40 last season without knowing what the kits looked like, did they not?

And every season someone will think it’s **** or not the right colour red. Plus you actually got to see them before ordering last season.

Difference being you are offering an £8 usual discount (odd wording) and hoping people will order it without seeing it.

Also my son is a goalkeeper. So I’m guessing that shirts green but no sign of the away shirt colour so yeah there are a few bits that need filling in before I commit to ordering something.

    Err go on then
is there any significance reason our kit is red ?

maybe for third kit a throwback to the original kit
which i believe goggled was brown striped
    obviously a more modern version

Based on fan feedback at the most recent engagement forum, giving fans the option of pre-ordering a shirt at a small discount was continued despite moving back to a one-size-fits-all season ticket package (which again, was a decision made based on fan feedback).

As said previously, there are clues as to what colour they are, and I imagine more 'looks' will be on the way.

Can't help on GK kits I'm afraid.

    Hope this helps.

Just a subjective view on this. Commercially I've always tried to look at the possible downsides and upsides of decisions. Essentially so they can be managed, improved or avoided.

With the kit, you have an individual who punts up the money for a shirt ahead of time, but blind. For taking a gamble they have the chance to save a few quid in the process. They don't know what it looks like. Yes, they know the home kit is going to be red in some form of design. But until they see it for sure, they don't know if they've made the right decision. But everyone loves a bargain, and so the temptation is likely significant. Now you've seen it, so you've made your mind up and have an indication how its styled. It might be pretty middle of the road, or it might be a bit shaw carpets 1990.

The most negative reaction is if someone hates it. The gamble of an £8 saving soon is wasted and they are stuck having paid £40 for something they really dislike. Though to be fair, if that was the case, I wouldn't be surprised if you guys actually exchanged it or refunded, if the reaction was pretty visceral!

Of course, they could absolutely love it, so the mood is an extreme positive. They love the shirt, their gamble paid off, they've saved £8.

But you're creating variable outcomes on a gamble teased by a small discount.

From my perspective, looking at it from the side of a business, I'd be very much against creating something that is a gamble and not a known (certainly with merchandising). And certainly wouldn't want to be in a place where a loser is created. Someone who has paid £40 who wouldn't otherwise have done so if they had seen the kit in advance.

Or they could have just said season ticket holders get an £8 discount on one shirt regardless of having to buy by a certain date.

I hear what you're saying, and I'm sure my colleagues who've been involved in it, from a retail perspective, will have taken such things into account.

Definitely getting the home kit for the missus' grandson though. It's a belter.
