I think it will have the opposite effect. Others may come out on the back of this. And tbf it'll only be knuckle draggers and influenced kids who abuse. They'll Soon get tired once they realise it's just a small minority of em. Embarrassing themselves. The Elton John jibes became extinct. Those that boo taking the knee are far outweighed by those that drown em out.
The big story should be about those not willing to accept the LGBT+ communities and why rather than attempting to sensationalise a non story .. As for the Sun its self... if more folk followed the lead of the good folk of Liverpool and refused to buy it then it would soon go out of business. At the end of the day does it really matter what sexual orientation anyone is ...love is love no matter the form
Agreed, he is brave. It is a **** name but I’m glad he’s willing to finally come out. We need more Guys in football. Also f the sun.
If anyone is interested its Jake Daniels a 17 Year old Blackpool Striker who I have never heard of - Just announced in the Media https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/jake-daniels-gay-footballer-blackpool-b2080203.html Good luck to the lad - hope its soon forgotten
Just watched the interview on Sky Sports News. Brave as can be. Hope he has a fantastic career. And well done to Blackpool for being so supportive to him. As a side issue, just as a mark of our own respect, can we at least have the title edited to read correctly?
Seconded and your comments above- I just corrected the title to what I assume @dreamboy3000 meant originally - but if anyone is upset with the word "Gay" happy to change it again
Good for him, hope he helps get rid of the taboo, encourages others and it finally ceases to be a ‘thing’
What a lad he is. There will be dozens of gay Football players out there so it shouldn't have taken a 17 year old to be the first to come out since Fashanu. Hope his courage inspires others to follow suit.
100% is naive and pushing it, but I hope you are right. As for Millwall. They have gay fans. One who I met is openly gay to his fellow supporters. Let's not tar em all with the same brush. I've no love for em but neither did I have for leeds in the 70s/80s when the national front had a big presence. handing out leaflets prior to games at elland road. Big minorities but still a minority. Shunned by most.
Shouldn't be a issue in this day and age, but sadly it still is. I don't get why it bothers people, personally I don't give a 5hit what peoples choices are it as got nothing whatsoever to do with me and as no impact on my life
I think its also worth pointing out, it's only really been an issue in the men's game, the women's game no bother at all with sexuality.
