Not a surprise with Port Vale fans as they aren't that much worse than Millwall reputation wise. Horrible away trip. It's getting to the point where for big games they should bring back cages for safety when they know fans will run on the pitch.
Seems that way. He's ignoring the nob head then suddenly reacts. Can we also acknowledge that not all football fans are neanderthal. There was the potential there for things to esculate and certainly a couple of other fans fancied a pop at him, but (correct me if I'm wrong) those are Everton fans who prevent any further violence and escort Viera away ensuring he's protected.
Definitely as I see it. He's taking all the gestures in his face, but then something gets said as the kid turns away that sets Viera off. You're right. A couple of supporters calming it down, like the guy with his kid on his head, but another 4/5 who fancy having a pop at him as well.
The clubs should get severely punished, that’s the only way that this will get nipped in the bud. put the emphasis on the club. Seems harsh but if you say “automatic lifetime ban for anyone entering the pitch” that is some deterrent. It makes the club put such measures in place. More security is another example.
Some will disagree I'm sure, but I can't help but feel that the way this country has drifted so dramatically to the right in the last decade has had a measurable impact on football hooliganism.
I know I shouldn't say it but my main reaction to the Viera thing is he should have leathered the little scroat.
As soon as fans run on the pitch, then automatically their club are docked 10 points. Can't be having this at the end of every season. Knuckle draggers.
I'm a bit torn on the going on the pitch scenario. For me it all depends on fans intentions. Our 3 biggest 'on the pitch' events, 97 celebrating promotion to the Prem, early 80s promotion, then the Huddy great escape (them not us). Not an ounce of trouble just wonderful memories. I suppose it just relies on individuals intentions.
