What's the status of M. Rémy?

He wasn't on the earlier Loan Departures announcement, and he's not on the Retained List announcement.

Id rather Vic than Palmer all day every day. The club needs effort and desire above anything else, especially last season. Palmer couldn't be arzed 95% of games till last couple - probably when he realised no other clubs were in for him - I know you like your stats, but stats don't determine everything.

My first reaction was legitimately “ugh” out loud. I hope they’re on very cheap deals.

I understand Palmer. I think within a 5 choice midfield he will offer something.
Cole, he's got a contract. I presume ICD also as a contract for next season. I hope they are planning on binning off both ASAP.

Victor Adeboyejo. He doesn't offer anything and they've given him a new deal.

I look through that list and I see a lot of not good enough or needs loaning out.

Why does Palmer deserve one but not Vic?

That's precisely the problem we have. The players we want to get rid of, we're unlikely to get offers for. So we either play them til their contract lapses, or, we look to loan them out for a modest contribution to their wages, or we find a club to take them and we part pay them off. Either way, it's not great given we're trying to cut our budgets drastically.

Underwhelmed and worried that we’ve got so much crap still on our books for league one.

It's all a matter of opinion really . I'd keep Palmer but not Vic, subject to reasonable wages of course.

Based upon what i think they might turn out to be capable of doing.

Terrible decision to offer Victor and Palmer deals. Neither are good enough and there will be miles better players available out there. They have had enough seasons with us to show worth and haven't. Let's hope they both knock us back for our own sake.

No issue with offering Big Vic a new contract. He isn’t ever destined to be a first choice striker, but in bursts he can cause defences problems and he’s exactly the right kind of character you need in the squad.

Give his wages are pretty low, it would cost us a lot more to bring in a new 4th choice striker. He won’t ever really start more than ten games a season, but as we saw with Val, when used appropriately he can be an asset. And this is dropping down a level. He’s better than he was when we were last at this level or when he was at Brizzle Rovers.

There’s always a budget to work to, and there’s a squad to build for next season. I think people built the retained list announcement to be something it was never going to be. We only really had four(?) first team squad players to make a call on; Vic, Palmer, Halme, Miller.

Were some people expecting us to announce that players under contract were being released? Might be a bit of confusion there, not sure.

A lot of the 'deadwood' is still under contract.

It doesn't mean they aren't leaving.

Actually, looking at the comments on social media, I think there’s definitely confusion about what the retained list actually is.

Loads of folk complaining we’ve announced we’re keeping players that are under contract.

I think that's exactly what some were expecting for some reason.

Adeboyejo does not score enough goals.

Palmer has the heart of a pea.

Those would be my reasons for releasing them.
