Daughter in law is having a street party. My mrs baking buns. Told her I'm not going as I would be an hypocrite. The response is un-printable, Something along the lines of yer miserable owd git lol. Must be going soft though. Always had a soft spot for Maj and what she means to a lot of the older folk who respect her ( tbf she's not Thatcher/Boris and his mates Whom my mrs and I hated/hate with a passion) Not the institution mind.
I'm glad you've told me that mate because I was completely unaware. Not had an email, and it's not on their website or Instagram account. Just found the video on Facebook, which I wouldn't have found if I hadn't gone looking for it, as I don't use Facebook.
I only saw it because I was curious what event you were going to had a look. Tickets are still available on their website too which is a bit naughty
Will be at the Caravan with the kids. It's half term and the good news is I've only had to use 3 days leave to get the weeks off, so thanks Liz. Doesn't change my view that when the Queen does leave this mortal coil we should start the process of removing the Royal family.
Working the Thursday, Slamdunk Festival on the Friday. Then probably do my usual and spend Saturday looking for YouTube videos of the previous days festival as I will have no memory of even being there let alone seeing some great bands.
Still got my silver Jubilee coin. I'm not a Royalist, but it's a nice thing. Who went to Cawthorne Park when the Queen came in '77? I was there. I remember what she was wearing because I have a stupid photographic memory that is the bane of my life. I was 5 years old, which means whenever there's a Jubilee 'thing', I have a 'thing' too. So 70 years for Lizzy this year and I've had my 50th. There was supposed to be a street party in '77, so much organisation by the women on our estate (Yes, it was the women, I'm not being sexist), but it rained, so we went to Kex club. I remember it like it was yesterday, like I remember every day of my life like it was yesterday (don't ever wish for a good memory). I remember the texture of the white sliced bread that my mum never used to buy and the coconut and jam slice that I'd never had before and every single person who sat around our plasterers table, with paper table cloths and tin foil over plastic plates so it looked silver. And the sentiment nearly kills me. I don't have any Jubilee plans, to answer the OP. I think maybe I should.
Sweet Lorraine (or some such) playing on a flat bed trailer at Wombwell Sporting, too pi55ed to walk home, slept in Littlefield field, marvelous.
Interesting responses. Seems to be mostly in the ‘nowt special’ camp, with no real anti-royal sentiment.
4 days in London Hopefully catching a little of the pomp and ceremony on Thursday as well as the fly past. Then a lovely few days eating, drinking and meeting up with friends Thank you ma’am
