Had the pleasure of meeting him this afternoon at the opening on No 37 Coffee and Sandwich Shop on Greenfoot Lane. What an absolutely lovely kid. Spent a good 20 minutes talking to me, my lad and his best mate about football playing for Barnsley, football in general and asking my boy about his team and where he plays etc etc. Really took to him, hope he gets some starts next season and shows what he can do.
Brilliant read. He's got a good head on his shoulders. Next season we will see a lot of him i'm sure.
Is that the Katie's Baps shop (or Gerry's local shop going back further)? [edit. It is, just checked]
Was always popping in there on my lunch on my way to my nan's, circa 2003-05, during college days. Did a great egg salad sarnie.
One of the only positives in relegation for me. I don't think he's ready for Championship football, but I definitely think he'll do a job in League 1 and develop into a Championship player. At least he now gets to do that with us, rather than on loan.
I was sat in the West Stand Lower a couple of seasons back and got talking to the chap next to me. He asked me if I'd heard of Aiden Marsh; I hadn't at that time, and he then told me proudly that he was Aiden's grandad. A very nice man, just like his grandson it seems.
