Absolutely marvellous! Just seen it at the Lamproom. Brilliant acting from the Lamproom players, and wonderful music by the Thurnscoe Brass Band. If you can get a ticket, we’ll worth watching.
Went yesterday too. Look out for my nephew. He’s the young narrator and plays the son of the clown . He’s only been acting 3 months and did a fantastic job. (In my opinion)
The Pete postlethwaite speech scene was one of the finest i've ever seen in a uk movie' or any other come to that' superb heartfelt delivery' what an actor he was' the fact that he and Stephen tomkinson moved to Grimethorpe for a few weeks to get a feel for the place/people speaks volumes' proper pro's. RIP Pete..
Mrs is off to see it tonight with her mother , unfortunately I’m on a stag week in Portugal so can’t join her
I’m going to make a confession and admit that I’ve never seen Brassed Off, despite being the daughter of a miner and growing up in Grimethorpe.
Ah lovely Grimthorpe.... all you could see of it from the A635 near Darfield was the pit. My mum's aunt lived in Grimey.
Well worth a watch but I'll be honest I preferred the full monty, found it more evocative of the times.
Brassed Off is probably my favourite film. It moves me to tears every time I watch it. It also makes me laugh and the music is great. I was lucky enough to see the Grimey band perform it at the Metrodome with Pete Postlethwaite joining them on stage to conduct.
Fantastic film, well worth a watch. Pete Postlethwaite’s speech at the end is one of the great cinema moments imho. Went t to see it in Millenium Square in Leeds a few years ago with live accompaniment from (I think) the Grimethorpe band, which really added to the experience.
