    Did anyone claim?

I put a claim in with Slater and Gordon a while back. Been getting regular updates from them over the past 2-3 years. Then yesterday got an email to say the case has been settled and I will be receiving £1700 in the next few weeks.

I never had the fix done as some people said it caused more issues than it solved.

happy though for five mins effort filling a form
In. Didn’t expect to get owt

Always happy to read that a consumer has been given a payout from a greedy corporation who thought they were invincible. Nice one.

Recommend the 'Dirty Money' episode on the Volkswagen scandal if you haven't seen it.

Yep - I got an email also and like you fully expected to hear nothing. No idea what figure as of yet but based on yours I'm cautiously optimistic - and anything is better than nothing!

I bet you could do it yourself. Maybe go on the Martin Lewis site, he often has templates you can use. Don't have to give greedy companies a cut then!

These were class actions so im not sure you could, unless you sued them yourself?

I don't think you'd need to. They've admitted liability so will pay up to anyone who can prove they bought an affected vehicle. You could be right though, I've never owned a diesel car.

In all honesty...apart from three visits to dealerships which were relatively minor inconveniences as I am retired - one for the initial recall, one to investigate an issue caused by the 'fix' and the final one to replace a part causing the issue. I have had no problems. Since I have had 100% reliability from the car, now 10 years old bought new and have never had any intention of replacing it until it is ' run into the ground' or becomes unreliable or uneconomic to repair I could not be bothered to chase for compensation. It is the most reliable car I have ever had. Of course many owners have lost out and deserve some recompense and I am glad they have had that but I genuinely don't feel like one of them. Certainly VAG have paid a high price for dishonesty which is how it should be.
