my suggestion would be to quit watching the "vids doing the rounds" on twatter etc and have a look at the actual respected news reporting.
Why is that?' Are the videos of fans climbing over the walls not real' its there in front of your eyes..
I really don't care about the isolated videos you've seen. There were clearly problems with people of various affiliations climbing barriers. Look at the reporting on the actual events and cause of the problems.
Let's be honest the blame probably lies with many different people SOME Liverpool fans will have turned up without tickets Some Liverpool fans will have turned up with fake tickets (On purpose) Some Liverpool fans will have turned up late Some Liverpool fans will have been pissed and acting like tossers. But also some of the police will have been acting disgracefully. The security operation looked over the top The contingency plans for if fake tickets or ticketless fans approached the turnstiles was woefully inadequate. Uefas response and immediate blaming of fans is bang out of order. And finally fans of all English clubs who behaved disgustingly in the past, including fans of Barnsley, and fans who this season have behaved badly, are to blame as they have created a reputation that fuels the harsh treatment by police. Ill tell you who isn't to blame though and that's the majority of Liverpool fans who's night was ruined yesterday.
True but it seems the bulk of the sensible media are reporting on poor organisation and policing rather than the problem being caused by Liverpool fans. I'm sure there will be a small number of Liverpool fans who misbehaved but it does, at the minute seem to be small and I defy anyone to quote a set of fans who wouldn't have had a few acting out of line given what seems to have gone on.
Same circumstances it could have been Man Utd,Leeds , Villa etc etc . Every game was a battleground whether in Europe or domestically . The authorities had little will and less ideas how to react. News reported it as a badge of honour for many years with all sets of fans revelling in the notoriety. Not gonna go on and lecture everyone knows what going to a football match risked in their days I myself have been in fear of my life even a BFC matches . While ever we deflect the blame as just some region in England instead of dealing with the national problem and the organisation behind it . I’d bet you any money that not all those causing trouble were solely from Liverpool and given the organisation by these groups there be plenty who supposedly affiliate to other Teams/Regional areas . Like the Wembley fiasco most of it is organised and it’s these we need to smash not just keep blaming one set of fans or regions .
Madrid fans were tear gassed and there is footage of people climbing the fences at the madrid end. Like with the liverpool end though, there is doubt as to whether all or any of these were actually travelling Real fans or local youngsters causing trouble; plenty of news outlets suggesting it was French youngsters scaling the perimeter; though I don’t doubt there will have been some Liverpool fans involved, as probably some Madrid ones too.
The UEFA statement is a disgrace because it’s tone and connotation apportions all blame, all, to ‘late’ fans and fans with fake tickets. Nothing was done wrong by UEFA. No issues with the French authorities mentioned. Just Liverpool fans. And the gullible suck it up. Meanwhile respected journalists from tv and newspapers, from the U.K., Italy, Spain, Germany, though curiously not France, all tell a different tale which is eerily consistent. Dear me. Watch the bbc news report on Orgreave. Them dirty miners were throwing rocks at those poor law abiding police officers. It’s there in front of your eyes… Believe what you want. But all these videos you talk of, you seen all of their passports and addresses to know they were travelling liverpool fans? Or are you just assuming that, based on the footage you’ve seen posted by people you’ve no idea of what their agenda is? I’ve seen numerous videos of fence scaling, and at least one of them I know for a fact wasn’t even from last night as I’d seen the footage before. The only medium that is still consistently blaming liverpool fans for the events of last night is on pretty anonymous social media. Any respected broadcaster, and not just in the U.K., have a different spin. As I say, believe what you like. But I’ll believe respected broadcasters and journalists, who were present, over some grainy YouTube uploaded by a random from Manchester.
It’s an acceptable form of racism- prejudice against scousers. Seems like UEFA and French authorities and locals were to blame but scousers get the flack as per usual.
The treatment of thousands of Liverpool fans who'd been at the ground waiting to go in was disgracful. To tear gas people indiscriminatly was way over the top and could have caused deaths to people simply trying to get into the ground.
It's been reported that many of the "fans" were locals who were trying to storm the gate just like the Euro final at Wembley, but hey, it's a Liverpool game so let's blame the Scouser anyway. Not trying to defend anyone by the way. I wasn't there so I don't know.
There are lots of parallels between Liverpool fans and Barnsley fans, and I think it’s important that we understand why Liverpool fans have this reputation, and why it’s absolute bell’ooks that we need to show solidarity with them in. Liverpool and Barnsley are two northern, working class areas. Both were decimated by Thatcher. Liverpool was openly put through ‘managed decline’ which caused untold misery there. Working class people and Tories have historically not gotten along. So when something goes wrong, a la Hillsborough, the Tories will do, and did do, everything in their power to cover their own árses and put the blame on the working class fans. What happened at Heysel was a disgrace, but the final never should have been hosted there. The place was literally falling apart, and unfortunately English football, not just Liverpool, was rife with hooliganism at the time. It was just as likely to happen if it had been Utd, Chelsea, Forest etc. In terms of being victims of terrible politics, and then having fans all over the country hate you for it, I’d say this: A lot of people here will remember Orgreave. Some may even have been there. It was an identical instance of rotten Tory politics and lies crushing the working class, and then the Tories covering it up and blaming normal people like you and me. How would Barnsley/Rotherham fans feel if other fans up and down the country mocked us for Orgreave every game? The sense of injustice on here would be palpable. You have a lot more in common with a Scouser than you think.
