I’ve been to Monaco, it’s an amazing place and I know how synonymous it is with F1. However, it’s a dull race nine times out of ten. And yet here we are, changeable conditions, potential for an exciting afternoon and they stick them behind a safety car.
The one weather condition that could make the race interesting and they sit them on the grid. Unbelievable
Hopefully won't be on the calendar much longer as there is talk of it getting scrapped. Reasons I read were.... 1) They don't pay F1 for the race. 2) It's boring pretty much every year. 3) The sport has outgrown the area. It cannot cope with race demand for hotel rooms, restaurants etc. 4) Miami the other week showed what Monaco do but on a much larger scale. 5) Las Vegas will be much the same later this season.
It won’t go - far too much sponsor money involved! I really like Monaco as an event - but not a race these days.
Selfishly, as I’ve already been, I hope so too! Problem is, they’ll build another desert track or have another American race. I like Magny Cours or Paul Ricard in France. Or Hockenheim that’s been binned in recent times. Edit - Paul Ricard remains. Thought they’d got rid.
After getting absolutely p155 wet through at Imola last month I'm glad to see it happening to others. Yes, I was the only man in Italy that day without a brolly.
That will be publicised as an “exciting” Monaco race but it wouldn’t have mattered if Perez had 30 laps to do on shopping trolley wheels, no-one could get past. Remove it from the calendar please.
Despite all the nonsense, an absolute procession yet again. As said above - take it off the calendar.
Look how slow Alonso went and Hamilton couldn't pass. Its a complete joke, I normally don't watch it but heard it might rain but everything after the 2nd red flag was terrible.
Especially with the bigger cars this season, overtaking was always going to be even less likely. As you say, Alonso backed up 10 cars driving three seconds a lap slower than the front runners. They’ve got rid of other historic tracks over the years, so fingers crossed. It’s Baku next. Another street track, but modern and built for racing. Today wasn’t racing. It was a procession as usual.
Rumours are that both Monaco and French GPs will get binned off in favour of China being back on calendar and potential talk of a return to South Africa.
